there are a couple self-righteous posters here, and a couple of trouble makers, but that`s the way it is anywhere you go where there are this many personalities in one place....IMO

it`s still a great place to hang out and get your learn on...

there`s good and bad in everything...

...that line came to mind as I was reading the thread. That and I was thinking about the Spanish gal that was sitting on the 3d base side behind home plate at the All-Star Game. I wish I never would have posted this thread, but I did. I still mean it. Even within this thread I saw a few perfect examples of what I am talking about.

If you aren't interested in a thread = ingore it (it's that simple)
If somebody disagrees with how you spend your hard earned money = ingore it (it's that simple)
If somebody asks an opinion on A vs. B and your answer is C = ignore it or offer some sort of help and a reason why.
If somebody is happy with a purchase that you feel could've been different = ignore it. The money is already spent.

I'm about done here.

99% of what is said here is beneficial. $hit floats, and stinks. While some don't agree with each other it is kept pretty clean. We had two members that have been banned for life, and only one that really stinks it up here. This forum would really benefit if they took out the trash. Other than that this place is one of the best places on the net.

Despite whatever problems you perceive here, this is the best internet audio forum going. I'm sorry you no longer feel that way, perhaps you've got other issues in your life affecting your judgement, I don't know. I do know that you'll never find the answer at the bottom of a bottle.

Personally, I'm saddened by your thread as it was not necessary, nor helpful to this forum.

Just as you are free to lament over what you perceive the forum has become...everyone is free to post comments on anything posted. Within the rules of the forum of course...since this is NOT a democracy and free speech does NOT apply here and Polk can run it any way they like.

This is the internet and it is a free-for-all. Once you post something it is open to whatever happens. It is the nature of the beast.

One of the things that has happened here that causes one to think cliques have formed are the PFs. Once you meet someone face to face there is a different dynamic taking place. If I don't know you from the next guy but I've spent hours BSing and drinking beer with Troy or Ted or Bruce then I am more than likely going to side with them in a conflict or argument. THAT is human nature and if one considers that a problem...to bad.

One is free to visit the forum, post on the forum, **** about the forum or ignore the forum and do any or all of the above in varying degrees. It is the internet and it is what it is...good...bad...or whatever. Carry on.

Mark (gidrah) likes to talk audio. I think he's making the point that this forum has become a drama-fest, speaking more about personal conflicts and one-upmanship than audio; and to an extent I agree. He's a long time, respected member that has an ear for "old school" gear--not to mention an old friend of mine and Army buddy.

He simply made some observations; hell he even said "PM me"---some of you ran with the ball. So who exactly are the drama queens?

Hang tough ski. Many here would like to see you stick around brother. For those of you with negative comments, that don't even know the man--pour yourself a hot mug of STFU.

This is still the only board I frequent or post on..FOR A REASON. Though there are times this place becomes a cluster ****, it's still a group of trustworthy and knowledgeable men and women. I can't think of many places where there is this much trust amongst it's regular members. Trust enough, that members often send fairly pricey gear to people they've never met in person and put it on installments(Steve, Chuck, RuSs, Mark, etc). That says a lot about the members here.

there seems to be an ugly truth we can all miss sometimes, that is whenever you have large community of people together with a free flow of ideas, your going to get a ton of information going back and forth.....this includes BS and drama, good info, wrong info, conflict, friendship..EVERYTHING.

This is where a Mod's life is difficult (at least as it pertains to an internet board). It is a constant struggle to maintain some level of order to the chaos, some boards are very hands off, some are not. Polk's seems to be right around the middle. funny thing about the middle is your going to piss some off on each side of the spectrum.

This includes if an when to ban someone. If I had this incredibly hard job (and thank the sweet merciful Christ I don't) it would be a question of wether his/her contributions outwiegh the negatives.. Also factoring the obvious, if someone is causing such a disturbance and hatred of a large group of members....thus producing only pain and strife, then it makes sense. Some were no brainers (Trigg, Spyderman, ka7niq), some took a lot more inflection...and subsequent anknowlegment after much thought (Rskarvan and others)

is Candy there?, nah. To me, he's easily avoidable and some of his threads arent TOO bad, just looking at them altogether can seem nutty (just my opinion of course). Here's the caveat, if he travels to a point to where he derives his pleasure here via solely acting to annoy people...then anyone that hits that point can be banned.

it doesnt take breaking certain rules in black and white, its whether the decision yields more benefits than negatives (i.e. cuts down on the BS and drama people here complain about). unfair sometimes? yep. Especially if the person isnt nessecarily causing the drama directly, but acting as its flashing point instead. Life's unfair though kiddie poos, act acordingly.

Mods will eventually act globally, not locally, for lack of a better phrase (for the good of all so to speak)

to me, these are just the conditions that prevail. despite it all I like this forum, and many of the people on it. To me, the benefits far outweigh the negatives, therefore I still hang here. I believe Jesse said it is the best audio board out there, and I think he is right. I go to others, but this is the one I have over 4000 posts on, not the others.

When I dont like it anymore, or the negatives outweigh the benefits, then I punch out, LONG before I have a caniption fit over it.

I said it before and I'll say it again. If you are not participating, you are not part of the problem but you're also not part of the solution. If you are griping and not participating, you have no right to gripe. You want to see changes, post more. Talk about what YOU want to talk about otherwise everyone else is gonna post about what THEY want to talk about. If what THEY want to talk about doesn't interest YOU then either get to posting about what YOU want to talk about or get busy movin' on.

I participate. There is alot here I would like to gripe about but it isn't worth it. There are many personalities and ideas here and they are all just as valid as mine. The Internet is a big place as well as our little corner here. There is plenty of room for my ideas and personality as well as everyone else's.

IMO, threads like these are unnecessary. If you want to see change, stop talking about it and start affecting it.

Sure, sometimes somebody can torque folks off by insisting that it's a good idea to put dual Holley carbs on a set of SDA's (or whatever mod the person suggested), but you have to be willing to take some heat if you're going to walk WAY off the beaten path.
Even with the heat some folks take for their "uniqueness" (pssst.....that's code for crazy ideas

), it still all good because you still have real new folks posting radical ideas.
The one real new guy who experimented with a PS1 as a SACD player comes to mind. I didn't see him get torched with anything more severe than a "GOOD LUCK !".

But, as Jstas mentioned, it boils down to you're part of the solution or part of the problem.
And if you don't post, than you get people getting bored and sidetracked, and posting cat pictures.

BTW: I'm down to one job now, so I'm going to have a lot of free time on my hands, so PLEASE gidrah, start posting or else I'm going to get myself into trouble !!
If you're into old school or vintage stuff, post some stuff (with pics !) on the good ol' days of Sansui gear; that'll keep me occupied for a long time !

In any event: IT'S ALL GOOD.
