WTF?????
I have been visiting this site for a few years now. I used to visit this site because I wanted to enjoy the people. Now I come back looking for it; and to be honest, am blinded by stupidity.
This site used to be about helping people. Now it's about worrying about the trolls and the guys with the "better rigs" telling other that they "should not waste their time".
There has never been an internet click (clique) that Has made my system sound better. Sure, I heard the hype, but ......
It is a subjective hobby (HOBBY)!
Post count should be taken in context.
I have A-7s and my fiance is a fox.
If you have a problem with anything I've said, PM me!

Chaff, grain, sort, ignore...
Some forums I belong/belonged to didn't show a post count. Start a thread, take a poll, put it up for vote. We could all use another useless thread.

I've been a bystander for too long.
Please do not get me wrong, there are a bunch of members that know what they are talking about and are willing to help (I'm drunk), but damn.
Sometimes it's just better to leave it alone. Sometimes people antagonize. Around this site "sometimes" is becoming the constant (if the herd lets it).Make it Funky! -

Mark,
Well, one thing to keep in perspective is that the forum is, IMO, larger and more diverse than it used to be. Plus, you know, we had some real doozies in the past as well. Chris/Snake, Trigg, liv4fam, HUNTER, etc etc....so, you know it's a constant to an extent.
Again, more people=more personality clashes.
There is STILL a lot of the good stuff going on. One, I haven't seen a new person come in that wasn't welcomed with open arms. Sure, there are a lot of opinionated folks but I DON'T see the new folks being offered up for slaughter. Sure we have some opinionated folks and so forth and while it may be, I dunno, intimdating for someone to break in, I DON'T see the open hostility to those who swim upstream UNLESS they are just looking to piss people off. If you are looking for controversy, you surely can find it here.
Rock on with your Altec's, man. I'll take 10 dollar Dynaco A-25's all day long.

I agree with your sentiments, especially in regard to the bit of "audio snobbery" that has been going on here lately. Not everyone wants to spend their life savings on audio, they're just looking for a decent system that does the job. We, as a group, need to understand and recognize this. Be helpful, veterans; don't be critical. Sure, everyone should upgrade this, or replace that--but let's focus on answering the question the poster asked--Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Upper management and the mods have been dropping hints here for months on how they expect everyone new and old to act but they seem to get ignored, closed and/or lost in the shuffle

That's because there is a fine balancing act between allowing people to state their opinion, without intruding too much on valuable opinion. You also have a wide variety of personalities, and where exactly (or how) do you make a judgement call on those issues? I think the staff of this forum does a good job of trying to keep it about audio--but no one AND nothing is perfect. Forum's are tough to administrate--I had one years ago. It was more trouble than it was worth.
There has been a couple of occasions where I should have been banned for blantantly breaking the rules; but luckily, I would imagine they took my contributions (as a whole) into account and cut me some slack. I have never seen a forum so close-knit as this one. The reason for this (I believe) is positive peer pressure and high expectations that we hold each other too.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Overall, compared to other forums I participate in, this one is pretty tame. Which is a good thing. We should all try to treat people with respect in this forum, and if we realize we will screw up from time-to-time, but we keep that goal in mind, this forum will continue to be the great place it always has been.
From time to time we have visitors that come with an agenda not so consistent with the agenda of the overall forum. We just need to learn as the Club Polk Family not to enable them.DKG999

I don't get what all the drama is about. This is, and always has been a great forum in my opinion. Tons of great people who are always willing to help each other out. Sure, every once in awhile people get into it with each other, but that's always going to happen in life. If everytime it happens we bang the drums and start 20 threads about it, yeah, it can seem like a big deal. But IT ISN'T. If you see something you don't like here, maybe instead of whining about it, start a thread or conversation you think does belong here instead. Its better for everyone as a whole if we just enjoy/point out the good parts to our forum instead of everyone pointing a finger to the couple of warts we have on our **** just like EVERY forum has.

Maybe I should post more
DING!
Everyone who complains about the state of the forums and doesn't post or used to post often and stopped doesn't get to complain. If you aren't participating, you're not part of the problem but you're not part of the solution either. You're not part of anything and that's not good.
This place is not about Polk Audio. It's about the people involved with Polk Audio from everyone at HQ and the factories and such to the owners who come here to talk shop, socialize and help everyone out. If you aren't participating in that then stop telling me that it makes you sick and you can't believe it and so on and so forth.
Now, this is for cl's edification. First off, shut up already. Now I don't think anyone rattles cages, stirs pots and pisses vinegar here more than me. I got a big mouth and a bad attitude at times according to most people. If I can get along here, anyone can. I don't know who this "core group" is but I'm not one of them as far as I know but I still come here everyday. There are people here that rub me the wrong way and I rub pretty much everyone the wrong way at some point. But I don't have hissy fits, cry and tell everyone I'm leaving. Asshats like faster100 do that, then they undo that and then they do it all over again.
If y'all wanna take your ball and go home, see ya. It's harsh, I know but who needs it? I come here to have fun and talk to the people I have known for a long time now. I have friends here and I like helping people out. I do my best to give good, accurate info and when jackasses like cl show up and tell us that the Polk engineers are morons and that they have some better idea they just stumbled upon, I take that seriously because it's misinformation. Does it hurt anyone? Maybe, maybe not. But if participation is what makes this forum, both good and bad, then I, like everyone else, have a responsibility here. This forum is about people. If it wasn't for involved people, it'd be nothing. So when a person comes and wants to get involved great! If they get involved and make a mistake or spread false info, then it is our responsibility as a community to inform the offender of the mistake to maintain integrity of the info. When the offender refuses to listen and goes on a crusade to prove a point that is just flat out wrong to begin with, it detracts from the community as a whole and for many reasons. But it is not a reason to take your ball and go.
There are plenty of times when I could have said the same and walked off or went on a rant about how this place sucks but you know what? It doesn't suck. This is one of the best places I know online and it's associated with a great company run by spectacular people who also see the merit and value here. Hell, the VP of the company invited all you freakin' monkeys to HIS HOUSE! That is just awesome!
So, cl, quit your BS, stop quoting the forum rules and broadcasting your propaganda. You're tiresome and no one will stop giving you crap because of your posts until you stop posting your crap. You can hang around but your stubbornness and close-mindedness needs to go. Seriously.
For the rest of you, a wise man told me once, if you can't have fun at what you are doing then go the hell home, nobody needs you here. Otherwise, pop a cold one, kick up your feet and sit down for a while and just relax! It's all good! No reason for the friction.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

great point on the "Everyone who complains about the state of the forums and doesn't post or used to post often and stopped doesn't get to complain" aspect. I agree wholeheartedly.

I have found that when I need advice, I get advice. If I want entertainment, I read in the clubhouse (where nothing seems like it should be taken too seriously. Personally I find that the Polk forums have done nothing but greatly increase both my knowledge of, and appreciation for everything my ears hear.
I love the fact that with 10 responses here, you can have 10 unique and valid takes on the situation. In one thread there can be well over 200 years of experience and for that, I will be here 'till the grave. (The problems here pale so badly to the excellence of this site that I can forget about it the second I am done reading it.) -
BeRad,
an excellent post indeed. You get what you get out of the forum because you choose what to take from it. this is a hell of a lesson for people who have not been doing that as of late, instead focussing on some things they dont like and suddenly being "sickenned" from it
I'm guilty of ignoring that advise on rare occasion as well.Living Room 2 Channel -

I ran into a bunch of audio snobbery when I first joined here two years ago. I think I posted my "new system" of Polk Monitor HT speakers, and while most said "nice system" or "you're on the right track," some commented I should ditch the whole thing and get some "real" HT speakers.
Kinda sucks to hear that after you spend your bonus check on the speakers.
Now, after being here and learning the ways for two years, I kind of agree with the comments that were made (positively and negatively) about my gear, the negative ones just need to be phrased much more politely as to not offend.
Most people here are very kind and will go out of their way to help another out. I've learned a ton here and like to have the forum in my peripherals while I'm at work. While I'm mostly just hear to hawk gear now, it's still a great place to visit when trying not to work
So, yeah, in all walks of life (especially in a place where thousands of strangers share their thoughts, ideas, and opinions), you'll get into some verbal wars, pissing contests, etc., but this place is still about 90% good. Take it for what it's worth and don't sweat the negative stuff. . . because, after all, it's an audio forum. And, bitching about an audio forum pretty much means we all don't have much more to **** about, so we're very lucky people.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
