    1) Hydrocodone
    2) Methadone
    3) Morphine
    4) Heroin

When option 1 stops working, you move to step 2, and so on. Option 4 will make you sleep, in the end you won't wake up at all. :)

Seriously though, be careful with sleep aids, most of them are addicting. I even had some withdrawals from hydrocodone after my surgery, and I only took it for a week. Made me understand though why heroin and morphine are so addicting, even the mild hydrocodone made me feel extremely good. It's not directly related subject but even with sleep aids, you're in danger of realizing you can't sleep anymore without them, and what worked before doesn't do it that good anymore.

Hey, I know what would be fun. Lets make recommendations without knowing even a glimpse of the personal medical history. Booyeah!

Talk to your pharmacist or physician.

May I recommend a 24oz dead-blow hammer to the forehead, around 9pm? Cushion with a wash cloth to avoid breaking the skin.

    LOL! You guys are FUN-NY!
I've built up a tolerance to otc sleep aids, and reading aint cutting it either. Hell, the past two nights I've taken the normal dosage of Tylenol Sleep Time, and then read for an hour+. Stuff just ain't cuttin it no more. And I wasn't taking it every night either, usually on Sun. night, to get my sleep clock on track for the week.
I'll be visiting doc this week.

Which is why sleeping pills are rarely a solution. They're good for getting over a rough patch while you figure out the CAUSE of your lack of sleep. Treat the cause, not the symptom.

Good luck though - nothing worse than not being able to sleep.

Injure your back, and some nerves too while you're at it. The medication they'll give you will make you fall asleep at the drop of a hat. :)

Most of the OTC stuff is just diphenhydramine, basically Benedryl. You don't want to get in the habbit of always being on that. Shizelbs said it best, go see your Dr. Sleep is not something to eff around with, nor are alot of the alternatives for sleep aid.

How much and how well you sleep has a direct impact on the rest of your life, go see a Dr and get it worked out.

You also may want to review your mattress situation. We recently bought a new mattress, and it did wonders for my sleeping. I was in the same situation as you, and getting a decent mattress alone resolved my issues. You spend 1/3 of your life on a mattress, don't skimp out on one.

Yes, see my earlier post a spots above. Hydrocodone (or oxycodone) is what they'll most likely give you. It's an opiate (same family as opium, morphine, heroin).

obieone, what's your day like? Do you exercise? A long workout and then hot sauna (substitute with hot tub if sauna isn't available) usually puts me to sleep in no time. Like bobman said, find the cause and then cure it, pills are a dangerous way to try to control the problem.

Some people (me for example) need background noise to sleep. If I don't, I think about too much ****. Maybe try that? Every night I go to bed with the TV on.

Instead of going straight to a prescription drug, I'd try a more natural sleep supplement. I've had great success with these in the past, and tend to always keep some on hand for times when I have sleep issues. One good one I've found is Tranquil Sleep, which has Melatonin, 5-HTP, and L-Theanine in it, which are all herbs proven to help with sleep difficulties. I would definitely give it a try first and see if it makes a difference. There are a few other herbs out there as well you could look into if this one doesn't work for you.

Your first post is on a thread almost a year old? What were you looking for?
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction.
