I will most likely replace my 1st gen with this newer one, EDGE is painfully slow and A-GPS will be a very nice feature especially since the maps app powered by Google is already so good.

It's nice to see that they manufactured a phone capable of using the network for what it was capable of in the first place. It's a shame you early folks got duped over data but its the nature of the beast.

texting with no keyboard? I don't know if I can handle that.

So, with ATT plan, what would that be with unlimited voice and data would set you back per month on iPhone?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Bah. My phone was cheap, and doesn't do anything.

I just find it funny that everyone got all riled up over the first iPhone and it uses obsolete, out-of-date technology that is over 10 years old. Now they come out with the 3g version and all of a sudden it's been delivered from heaven by Christ himself again.

Like most things it's the way it's put together more than the technology. The iPhone isn't my cup of tea but like most Apple products it's very easy to use and intuitive which is what people go for. What kind of "new technology" (aside from 3G) did you really want?

The iPhone is a consumer gadget. It does stuff but it's not the tool that other "smart phones" have become. I got my Blackberry last year and I'm very pleased with it. I also got a great deal on a cell plan from Sprint for it and I get to use all the technology in it without having to pay to unlock it. It's fully functional and has the fun software that an iPhone has but also runs productivity software that is compatible with virtually anything on the market. In addition, because of the 3g capabilities, it operates as a cellular modem for my laptop. About the only thing it doesn't do is what the 4g phones do and connect to a WiFi network with 802.11 standards.

I just find it sad that people were willing to pay an extreme premium for a phone that relied on connection technology that was new in 1991. Sure you got net access and such but it was band-aided to provide speed comparable to the 3g phones.

So I'm not looking for any more technology. We are one of the few countries out there with cellphone networks that can actually take advantage of 3g technology. Apple brought out the iPhone like it was a game changer. The Apple lemmings snapped it up like it was the way of the future. In reality, it was an overpriced iPod with a phone on it that relied on technology that was obsolete 6 years before the phone was even released.

Apple marketed the hell out of it, that's why it took off. They have millions of people brainwashed in to thinking Apple can do no wrong. Yeah, it's easy and intuitive to use but you know what? So are alot of other phones out there and alot of other phones have much more capability and in the case of my Blackberry Pearl, it was $150 less retail but I got discounts and incentives that dragged the price down to $200, a full $400 less than an iPhone.

My Blackberry is smaller, lighter, more capable and already uses 3g technology and did it all for a lower price. It's durable too 'cause I've bounced it off of concrete floors a couple times and it's still ticking. Granted, it's not everybody's cup of tea but it does everything I need it to do easily and at a low cost. The iPhone doesn't do that.

I'm not hatin' the iPhone. It's a decent product and if that's what you want, go for it. I just get frustrated with what seems to be blind purchasing and the whole controversy that has been bouncing around the net in the Mac vs. PC camps just further makes Apple look like a bunch of crooks. The iPhone just doesn't seem to be worth the hype.

But hey, to each his own.

    You need to update, Madmax.

    Net10. :)

It works out to $10 a month, though. BUT they have rollover ! I still have minutes on it from last year.

I only use a cellphone for 2 reasons:

    1. Call and let me know the house is on fire.
    2. Somebody in the house has an injury (defined as "I see bone or blood").

Other than that, it can wait.

I would never, ever, ever wait in line for hours upon hours for a phone.

I mean, its a cool gadget, but if I wanted it, I'd wait a week or so to get it...

That video was hilarious..."have you ever seen a naked woman?" By that guys response, I'm going to say that's a no.
