Whats up everyone,
I have been killing it waiting for a new preamp to hit the market with built in HDMI 1.3 and internal decoding and be a higher quality product. Marantz is the first offering that I considered. I have no intrest in the Integra.

B&K I have been told that the new avr707 and the ref 70 will hit the market FINALLY at the end of July. The spec's are suppost to be on the website soon.

I don't know about any of you but I hope they don't let me down like Rotel has done. the rsp1069 is a waste of wire and metal.

I'm pretty tired of waiting for a preamp. I effin want one 4 months ago. But hopefully the B7k is a winner and has everything I want. If not I'm going to go listen to the Marantz and maybe buy it and take it home to try out in my own system.

Like you, I'm hoping the new B&K is a winner. Unfortunately I just have this feeling that it's going to be a let down. I'm out of the HT market until the CE companies bring out something interesting.

Anyone need a good pre-pro? Ref 50 S1 and Ref 50 / 51 S2.

From what I have been told, the initial release of the Ref70 and AVR707 will not support DolbyTrue HD or DTS-HD Master. It will, however, have 6 hdmi 1.3b inputs, and HQV scaling/vid processing.

The HD surround formats are not a must for me at this time, but having reliable hdmi switching/scaling would be a very nice feature.

I love my B&K AVR507 s2 and it meets all my current needs. Once all the HD stuff gets sorted out and I decide to upgrade I'm not sure B&K will be my choice. I'm in wait and see mode on a lot of things with HT.

I personally love my 507 S2 so far (only been a few weeks). Still figuring out the nuances, but it's easy to set up, I LOVE the remote (got an mx-800 for it), and I know it will only improve once I get to know it's abilities more and more.

Still haven't even calibrated it properly.

My view is biased, however, as I got mine for a steal of a deal, fresh B&K after a check-up. For $2000+, I may be more critical.

I actually saw a picture of the upcoming BK ref 70 and I personaly did not like the new look. I can't commnet on its sound since I have never had the pleasure of listening a BK, but just on presentation alone It should be at least as good looking as the rotel rsp-1098 instead it still has the old monocrome crapy display with a bunch of buttons clomp together that look like a number keypad. for the kind of money they are asking for it, you will think you will get a very nice presentation with a nice 4" screen that supports 32bit video.

But who in the world has ever used 8 component inputs at once. Even before 2003/2004 when DVI/HDMI came into the picture, who had 8 component sources. That's just ridiculous.

Actually, that isn't rediculous at all. This will esentially serve as a dual zone, or more unit, since it has dual outputs, so in a sense, it already has a component video matrix built in. This way you can locate all of your equipment in one rack, and utilize different sources in different rooms, without having to add another unit specifically for the other room. B&K works very well for custom installation professionals, when we do typically use 8 or more sources. Take a look at B&K's HD6, and it give you an idea of how much this is actually utilized.

For example:

(2) satelite receivers-1 for each zone
(2) cable boxes-1 for each zone (it isn't uncommon for people to have satelite and cable at the same time)
(2) DVD Players-1 for each zone
(1-2) Xbox
(1-2) Wii
(1-2) PS3's
(1-2) Blu Ray players
(1) Apple TV
(1-2) Automation Controller, which I install on a regular basis

It doesn't take long to use up all the component video inputs and outputs. Even though HDMI is there, it is easier to send component video over long distnances, and it is more reliable, so that would be a good reason for all the inputs.

I beleive these spec's where last year. I think they made some changes and is why they are taking so long to release it/them. if it comes out without built in decoding I will effin freak out. I already have some steam coming off the top of my head and out of my ears.....:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

It looks like neither of the two has 7.1 analog inputs. Strange.
