I've got a 200 amp service in my house. I'm trying to find out how much, if any, headroom I've got in my panel for future additions.
Here's the breakdown:

1-2 pole 40 amp
3-2 pole 30 amp
1-2 pole 20 amp
7-1 pole 20 amp
6-1 pole 15 amp

I'm looking at building a 2 car garage and running wire for a 60 amp service, but installng 30 amp for now. Also, may be building an addition with 1-20 amp, and 1-15 amp.

If I've got to jump to a 400 amp panel before doing anything, I'd like to find out now.
Thanks

Do you plan on turning everything on at once?

LOL, no. I wasn't sure if there's a rule for calculating a safe load. I have 7 more 1 pole openings left but, I'm trying to avoid any issues in the future.

You're fine. The only time you would need 400 amp service would be for commercial applications, where you might actually need more than 200 amps. You won't need it...

I've got an electrician coming out tomorrow, he's replacing my 100amp panel with a 200amp. My panel is full and I need another spot for a third breaker for my theater. I have all the gear on one breaker and the lighting on another, I want to separate the video from the audio so they each can have their own breaker.

Ron loves a film = don't even rent.
