if it was blown, no sound would be forthcoming. swap the channels around and see if the distortion follows the speaker. if the distortion remains on the same channel. there could be a problem with the amp... maybe the volume pot needs cleaning.
if the distortion follows the speaker, then further investigation would be needed, you could try swapping the driver with the other speaker. If the distortion follows the driver, then the speaker is the culprit. if not, then it could be the crossover. -
if the cross over was bad both speakers wouldnt work the crossover runs on both of them ive ran just one speaker alone if i apply pressure to the cone it goes away i belive because the coils are fired and when pressure applied gets a connection anyone know where i can get a replacement or call and how much it costs?

if the crossover is bad, it is still possible for one speaker to work and the other not... swap drivers and see if that works... otherwise call Polk support for a new driver...

well i belive its forsure the driver but i think the drivers are glued in unless theres a way to take it out? does anyone know?

I have a pair of RT800i's the driver is held in place by the plastic cover use an allen wrench take of the cover and the driver will come out. The driver is not screwed in or glued.TV: Philips 42" LCD 1080p
