I agree with this thinking. 2 channel is 2.0 as far as I"m concerned.

This is how I roll... word.

Do you have a low level hum in the sub? If so,possible ground loop problem, bad cable etc.

Yes, I have a *slight* hum, but every piece of AV gear in the room is connected to the same dedicated circuit. Even using one of those cheater plugs didn't eliminate the hum completely.

I've thought about incorporating my subs into my 2 channel. But, most of the music I listen to probably doesn't drop into the 25hz and under area. Not saying that I wouldn't try it though. As soon as I get some better subs.:o

I think I'm going to get rid of the sub permanently. I'll put it in the upstairs rig which only gets used for TV/movies.

I replaced a full blown SRT system, the two subs up front under the sats, with 3000p's in back, another 2 subs, and fx1000's,and the SRT center, with just 2 Legacy focus 20/20's and those 2 sound better than the seven speakers with 4 subs.Of coarse those subs are no velo,Rel,but music suffered with the SRT's.Great system for movies but 2 channel is where it's at for music in my humble opinion.Upgrade the front 2 speaks, you won't regret it and find yourself watching less dvd's and relaxing to more quality music.Plus the waf is better with 2 speaks than 7.

I am running a 2-channel setup for music. It was suggested that I incorporate a sub in the setup, but ever since 2 weeks ago I've removed the sub.

Yeah,I got that.Just wanted to share my experience with subs on 2 channel.Though I don't have two seperate systems for music and movies. But you get my point anyway.I guess it will always boil down to a matter of taste with adding subs to 2 channel. If a sub works for you, thats cool, but for some of us,it doesn't.Bottom line is you have to enjoy what your hearing,so rock on.

Well, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as far as implimenting a sub into my two channel system. I know exactly what you guys are saying though, I rolled four different subs in & out of my system...I had fantastic results with HT but they literally mucked up my two channel music.

I didn't give up hope though, I've read too much on the benefits of adding a sub so I figured I'd give it another shot. Enter the Velo SPL-1200R, now the rest is history. My system went from "Friggin fantastic" to "Holy **** this is friggin incredible sound".

I think a lot of guys don't have a full understanding of what a sub actually does. A lot of guys say things like...I don't play a lot of music that hits down to 25hz so what's the point of a sub. That's only the tip of the iceberg as far as what a sub actually does.

The bottom line will always be to go with what works for you in your system, be that sub-less or with a sub, as long as it sounds good to you.

I knew that'd get the ball rollin'

Seriously though, I don't see where you need a sub. Them "little" babies got back. But hey, if it blows your skirt up, enjoy the breeze...

    Yeah, you're a ball breaker alright!! :)

And them "little" babies got back alright...down to 25hz & kick **** in my 3,000cf room. But you wouldn't believe the difference after I added the velo sub. Just more of a good thing presented in a different way. I'm even thinking of adding another velo SPL-1200R down the road.

Balls to the wall baby!!!! :D

Well, I have a set of Polk R15's for computer speakers and they are stout what with being plugged in to a NAD amp. They will shake the house, literally, at anything above about 45 Hz. But lower than that and they breakup quickly. Test tones don't even produce sound below 38 Hz. So while they got plenty of performance for what I use them for, for extreme things like explosions in video games or movies, they could use a sub. But I could cross the sub over at 50 Hz and it'd integrate seamlessly.

Then again, while my full range speakers in the truck dig down into the low 40's, high 30's which is fine for most music, road noise and such pretty much cancels that out. So having a sub is a necessity for decent tunes and it's crossed over pretty high at around 80 Hz.

The Amazings though, they dig down into the teens in frequency response and with eight total 12 inch woofers, they do it with authority even at low listening levels. No sub is needed with those at all. Especially when I get decent power behind them.

Don't give up. It's very difficult to get a subwoofer to blend in properly in a 2ch set up. It took me about 1 year with my present speakers. Keep trying different locations, freq-cut off, volume setting, etc. When properly installed, the listener should not hear the subwoofer. You should just get that extra extension you need where the main speakers cut off.
