My new Klipschorns...yeah, I know...
....they aren't Polks but for what I gave for them, I couldn't resist. 
These have been one of my own personal "Holy Grails" of speakers since I first heard them in 1979. They were the first "real" speakers I heard as the smallish town I grew up in had no stereo shops till a couple of years later. I first heard them at Custom Audio in Little Rock, AR on a small tube amp and a small Yamaha receiver. I was blown away and always said, one day.....
My SDA's are still the main speakers in my living room and the K-horns are in my (too small) office. They are beautiful, one owner speakers. Here's a couple of pics before they went into the house. Note how the woodgrain on the lower sections is damn near a mirrored match. Good craftsmanship, huh?

Man they are nice. I would love to hear them go. Believe it or not try them in the corners of your room. You will be shocked. Also keep them close to the back wall. Another shocker. I leaned a bit from Klipsch. We now carry them again. Intresting history they have.Dan

That's where they are supposed to go!
The theory is that having them in the corner, the angles of the horns eliminate room interaction. Not just these, but most of the Klipsch lineup. Also the vertical angles of the horn is small, so as to cover the area of the listener's ear, but taking the ceiling and floor out of the equation. -

Actually, I've had them hooked up and in my office at home which is waaayyyy too small for them at 12 X 14 but I have no other choice. My living room which is 24 X 20 has absolutely NO 90 degree corners to work with. Period. One day they'll be able to go in a room that they are made for and again, for what I have in them, there was NO way to pass them up. I have them hooked up with an old Magnavox EL84 tube amp that I pulled from an old console stereo. It's been completely recapped (orange drops), has new binding posts, IEC power plug connector and good RCA connections. The only thing I still need to do to the amp is replace the old multi-cap with a new version so it's completely done.
My goal now is to get rid of a bunch of older stuff that's just sitting idle to help fund a real tube amp of some sort. I haven't made up my mind if I want something vintage to rebuild (or has been already) like a Dynaco ST70 for instance or a fairly recent type model. But for now, they are fun to listen to. My little amp "may" put out around 15wpc but with the K-horns 105db @ 1 watt sensitivity, it doesn't take a lot. They are in the corners in my office which the corners complete the "horn" so the low end is there...although not optimum obviously. I'm going to either replace the original caps with Sonicaps that Bob Crites and many others recommend or buy the kit form of ALK Engineering's complete replacement network which is $290 in kit form.
It's just cool to own a pair of them after lusting over them since I was 13.
Here's the little Maggotbox amp. It ain't much....but it's ok.

Yep....they don't have to look good in the back when the are stuck in corners.
I'm going to sell off a few things and buy the ALK crossovers which are a completely new beast of a crossover versus just changing the caps only.Nice find. Oh yeah. I know I could make a few ducks on them if I sold them but I've always like the Heritage line of the Klipsch speakers so I don't anticipate selling them. I also own a pair of Heresy's from the same vintage (1978). I know they aren't everyones cup of tea but having them and the SDA's give me the best of both worlds that I like.
The Advents are in very good shape and I had them in the garage because I was refinishing them. I changed the caps/resistors on them along with refoaming them and changing the original binding posts out for some banana style. They are great sounding speakers.Richard? That book matching on the veneer REALLY makes them. It shows they took the time to make sure they used successive cuts. VERY nice.

Nice score Kip! Those appear to be in excellent shape.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

They are in "almost" excellent shape as there are a couple of pieces of veneer I'm going to have to repair on them. One is about 3/4" X 1/2" in the top left hand corner of the right speaker in the picture and the other is about 1.5" long and an odd shape on the left speaker in the pic. Other than that, one of the horns may need a new diaphragm as it makes some odd noises around 500Hz to 1kHz or so. It might be the caps in the speaker since the noise stays with it if the RCA's and speaker leads are swapped around. I'll figure that out after the crossovers are replaced with updated versions since that's a $300 expense.
I had to take a break from re-hooking up everything in the living room (HT and 2-channel stuff) since I also got 2 custom made Barzilay cabinets from the same owner. The lower one is 6 feet long and the upper is 4 feet. The longest time it's taken so far is figuring out where I want everything to go in them and what extra risers or shelves I'll have to eventually make for everything to sit right in there. They are beautiful cabinets though with the Tambour doors and all. Here's a couple of pictures of them. I'll take a new one once everything is loaded up and working again (sheesh). It'll leave a spot for a turntable to go in there, too. Finally...some vinyl in the living room!
