Whats up all?
Here is a job I did a few years ago with Lsi9's LsiC and 4 LCi Inceiling speakers. We used a Velodyne DD12 and stuck it in the wall with a custom tuned box. It's slick.
We also had a Mid Alantic rack built in the wall with a Denon avr4806. This was a time when HDMI had many problems and DVI as well.
the Projector is a Yamaha DLp which at the time was smokin. It still looks Incredible. We did some upgrades to this job. I might call him and see if he want to go with the Pioneer Elite sc09tx. I find it to be a bit mre Dynamic then the Denon.
Check it out.

How do the 9's sound that low? I would guess that would hinder the soundstage / imaging a little.
Looks sharp, though.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850 -
Definitely looks sharp.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

The cabinet work is nice and the screen is cool, but the RTT in-walls would blow this one away, far away!!!
I guess the guy did what he could but I like a theater room to be strictly for theater. Maybe he had a waf he could not overcome. That lighting, here you are trying to pressurize a room and then you go punch a bunch of holes in the ceiling.........

What is the projector and screen worth?
Hitachi 50" Plasma full HD 1080--Onkyo 805 AVR
Rotel RMB-1077 amp--Polk LSic center
Polk LSi25 fronts--Polk LSi 15 rears
Genesis G-2800 sides--Polk PSW 650 sub
APC H15 power conditioner--Netgear digital media player
Napster external hardrive--Linksys Wireless G router
Samsung DVD--Blue Jeans wires -
Looks ok. He needs to paint the ceiling, and do some other cosmetic work. Not a fan of the cabinet but if he likes it then it's all ok. I wish he could lose the WAF on the speakers but again, if it works for him in all fronts then what the heck.

Looks like the center and 9's are sitting flat. Are they actually tilted up twords the listener at all? (My center is mounted very high, but still has great sound as I tilted it twords the seating position. (used a laser level to get the right level of tilt) Since that is in a cabinet and you cannot see the speakers anyway, tilting up (and seeing the wedge under the front of the speaker) should not be a big deal.
Did you run into any issues with boomyness putting the speaker in a cabinet behind doors like that? Also I thought when you put speakers behind screens (in your case the screen is in the cabinet door), you were to remove their grills. (since the sound has to go through the front screen as kind of a grill) Do you find that not to be the case?
Anyway - just wondering (all theory, no practical experience - just wanted your opinion). I think it looks very nice.
MichaelMains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
As an audiophile and not an HT guy, it absolutely kills me to see that amount of dough go to a fubar'd sounding system. I'm working on a install just like this. Drives me Nucking Futz. Nice install though. Very professional. My advice? Get another painter. That guy bit.
How long did it take?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

My client actually has his speakers on a roll out shelf.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
:DReally Nice! Great job on nice system. You can definitely get better PQ if you paint the ceiling darker since white is the worst color you can have for reflected light. You could probably find a nice brown to do the ceiling, poles and trim that would make the room pop. Good job and enjoy! My Main Gear

This is a 150k basement. It's not made for performance. It's a place where they can go and have a beer at there incredible bar, watch a movie or put the game on, control all the basement lights with the mx3000 , play cards at there beautiful card table or hang out in there livingroom thats off to the left of the theater. They even have a really nice gym. It's a really nice setup.
The screen is a 150 inch Stewart Fixed I think it's a grey hawk or fire hawk, I don't remember.Dan

Who did the cabinet work?
The bar is made out of the same wood, it's Imported something. It was really expensive. The bar itself was 30k or something like that. I forget the guys name but he is out of NJ.Dan

What is the projector and screen worth?
back then that gun was 10 or 12k and the screen was like 3500.00 or 4k. Somewhere around there.
So somewhere around 15 grand.Dan

yes yes and yes.
The speakers in the cabinet have no grills on them. I removed them. The speakers are all angled upward toward the listening area. We lined the bottom with rubber and it works great. There is a DD12 in the wall so bass is not an issue at all. That sub kills it. All speakers are crossed over at 80hz in small. It works the best to save what little the Denon avr4806 has for dynamic range.
Remember most people don't care about performance. They do however care about video. His picture looks stunning. That projector at that time was off the hook. It's 1080i and every bit of it. The Stewart screen matches the Projector. The overall experience when you sit down and watch a movie is very exciting. I liked it alot. Not to mention how big the basement is and how open it is actually makes alot of air. All the rears are in the ceiling and pointed perfectly. It wraps around you really well.Dan

That room was not finished. there was touch up work to be done and such. This Install took 2 days. That included all the Lutron Radio Ra system which controls the entire basement. Programming the Mx3000 with RF control. We prewired the entire system under construction so it was easy trim in and final. I do all that myself plus programming.Dan

Prewires I look at the room and pick a spot that I know it's going to perform well. Most of my customers don't get seep into it as far as perfect performance but I care a lot how my Installs go and I always push for the best location. Most of the time I have to work in a bad spot. But I will tell you this, it sharpens your skills. I always have to create some cool technics to get the system to perform it's best. You should see it go.LOLDan
