Dammit you bunch of cable whores, give me advice! I'm looking at Audioquest's entry level stuff... should I get G-Snake or Sidewinder cables to connect my amp to my preamp? I've got some tweeter hiss and I hope a better cable can cut down on it.Currently listening to:

If you have tweeter hiss, I don't believe the issue resides within your interconnects.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Yeah, I just cleaned/reseated everything and the hiss is back down to almost inaudible more than 6" from the speaker. That was a close one.Currently listening to:

I have not tried alot - (copperheads, Blue Jeans, Signal and BW Audio (bens' braided silver specials).
The BW Audio is what has won out from what I have tried and is finding a growing presence in all my analog spots.

I found no audible difference between Sidewinder and Copperhead, so go Sidewinder. Both of these interconnects are very nice, but handle them carefully. I broke the connection on 2 different occasions with Copperhead.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Copperhead/Sidewinder are both very good IC's. Very nice treble presentation.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Tweeter hiss is probably due to a noisey source. Cables won't do anything for this. Are you only hearing this with the volume maxed and no program material? If so, it's normal to hear some hiss up close to the tweeter--this is the noise floor.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Exactly. I think my NAD is more powerful/revealing than my H/K, so some sources (particularly the cable box) have a very high level of noise while others (OPPO) have almost none.
That said, is there anyway to mitigate and decrease the noise floor without swapping electronics?Currently listening to:

You can reduce it sometimes by using good cable management behind your rack. I just redid most of my connections with appropriate length Monoprice Premium cables to declutter/separate AC from signal. Though they were a little on the pricey side, I think the tight-fitting connectors are worth it. They're my new favorites.Currently listening to:

Good advice. This is the most important thing to do. Also be sure to cross IC's at a 90 degree angle. If they run parallel with any other cables they can pick up noise;)

Tie wraps and tie-wrap stand-offs do the trick. I have all cables seperated and my system is DEAD quiet. I even set my equipment on the rack based on where connections will fall. My video components are all run via toslink, so they don't interfere with 2-channel audio.

Copperhead/Sidewinder are both very good IC's. Very nice treble presentation.
Only drawback to the Copperheads and Sidewinders, and the lower end AQ brand cables is the frequency of RCA molded plug failure. When it comes to cables, the lower end AQs fails more than most. Sonically they do a great job when functioning.[ -
Yep, they have to be handled very carefully, the solid conductor won't take alot of stress. I have broken 2 of them in the past.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

well not exactly the same thing but was accepted into IIT back in my engineering days.......
like many here steve I scower the used market looking for deals on MIT and buy demo and trades, the Shotgun line works for me, I have to give credit to Doro for getting me started on the MIT jonesin trail. I like this wire for the added bass I hear and it makes the treble more refined, not really rolled off just more refined and fun to listen to. I know everyone has there favorite and I support any wire someone feels fits there system.
Of course if you not using MIT your just confused.
RT1--effers ought to pay me endorsement fee's. -
I also haven't looked anywhere else after trying MIT Interconnects."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
