Need Advice to Complete Surround System

Here is the equipment I currently have in my system:
Yamaha RX-V595 cinema DSP Receiver
Front Speakers POLK RT300P
Center Channel POLK CS 225

Question is:

What would be appropriate rear-channel speakers (hopefully floor standing models) and SUB-woofer for this system.

Also, I think the center channel is on the "low end" of quality. Would this need to be upgraded?

Please advise, as I know there are some pretty audio - educated people in the forum.

That's an interesting collection of equipment to say the least. Unfortunately, I don't think any of it works together well. The RT3000p''s are beasts which aren't served well by your current amplifier. The CS225 has no chance to match the dynamics of your mains. The 3000's are also older speakers which are considerably more difficult to timbre match with newer speakers from Polk. You'll need to spend some time trolling ebay or craigslist to find perfect matching speakers. I recommend selling your current speakers and buying a new set of matched speakers.

    1. Keep the mains as they are (RT3000s) and upgrade the center to a CSi5.
Then figure out what satellite speakers will closely match (such as fx1000) and a PSW650 subwoofer. Not sure where I would find these. The Yamaha receiver would have to be upgraded last due my wife would freak if I bought all this at once.

    OR

    2. Take the easy way out and purchase a Power bar from Polk, keep the mains for audio listening only, and upgrade to a better Yamaha receiver.

I wish I would have completed the system awhile back...oh well.

every once in a while a big beefy older center channel speaker comes up on Ebay, as well as a pair of FX1000's. so keep your eye out for some. they ain't cheap. but it would help complete your system.

You could also consider the cs400i, could be found a little cheaper than a csi5.

I had the 400i for a long time and tried out some 3000p's, they seemed to match quite well from memory....

Audio is like wine, it all takes time.........
In terms of audio, i truly feel sorry for the visually impaired. How can they know what they like if they cant read google?

Yes, the 400i blends quite nicely with the 3000's tweeters, which I believe to be the same as my LS 90's.

    I'd go with option 3,
Keep the 3000's and run movies in 2 ch mode. Then keep an eye out for matching centers (400i, cs350) and surrounds (fx 500/1000).
