I spent an evening listening to a colleague’s rig while I was recently traveling on business to Whitehorse. I thought the system sound very good, but I believe he has the upgrade bug. He asked me what I thought he should change and I really didn't have any recommendations. I perhaps may look at the source. Anyway, I would be curious as to what you folks think may make an improvement to this system. Thanks folks. Yes, he likes Canadian gear.

Energy Speakers - Veritas 2.8
2 Bryston Amps - 7B-ST
Classe CDP-100
Classe Six L MK II Pre-Amp
Cables - Virtual Dynamics

I would set fire to those speakers ASAP and ditch those VD cables before they get even more bad press. The resale on them has dropped noticeably compared to a year ago. The Classe' & Bryston gear is solid.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Room treatments, a dedicated line and request that he research on IC's/PC's. On another note....speakers are one of the most important links in a rig. They provide not all, but the absolute end result in sound.

    +1.

Depends on how much he likes his Energy speakers, I would look there. So many better IMO speakers on the market. Energy are nice but I always feel they are missing cridical mid range when I listen to them. But thats an opnion.

The point on a deadicated 20 amp circuit with a Hospital grade outlet is always a great upgrade.

I strongly suggest looking into Audioquest for new IC/ Power and speaker cables. Years ago and lately I have been around the block and keep coming back to Audioquest. I think they just leave everything working the way it's suppost 2. Not adding or taking away anything.

Sounds like a solid set up. I'd have to agree he might want to look at the speakers. The IC's/PC's, well, that's something to play with, too. It won't have the impact of different speakers.

Maybe he's just looking for a little different sound?
