I always like Tommy Shannon licks he layed out for Stevie Ray Vaughan.

    Double Trouble always rocked.

"Hide Away" from "Couldn't Stand the Weather" has some great bass lines in it.

I must say that Chris Squire is a fantastic bass player. I've seen him live over 35 times and am always amazed at his bass lines and vocal ability. Check out this album if you've never heard it. It's absolutely amazing. He plays the bass like a lead guitar!! This is one of the few (or only) rock albums that has no lead guitar on it.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

my votes are Jaco and Stanley Clarke. For new players, Tal Wilkenfeld is astonishing with Jeff Beck.

    Tal Wilkenfeld.

She's been playing with Jeff Beck recently and is a real fire plug.

Dawg - what about Randy Jackson???

... but seriously. Flea has to get my vote. Don't know of any other bassist listed on here who would fill his thumb with super glue between sets after opening it up slapping. That's some serious dedication. Heck, I left work early yesterday because of a handnail.

    +1 John Entwistle

Best solo I have ever seen performed live, on any instrument was a bass solo by Entwistle.
