LSi15 vs LSi25

Right now I have a pair of LSi9's. I am interested in getting an LSi tower. The question, should I go for the LSi15 or the LSi25? Money is not a problem, as I think I will have saved up enough money for either one by the time Christmas rolls around.:)

I have read that some people complain that the active sub section of the LSi25 is kind of slow, doesn't keep up with the non active sections (midrange, tweeter). Is this true? This is one reason I am leaning towards the LSi15. What are your people's thoughts?

And oh, I know this has been asked a ton of times before. Can we expect to see any sales on the LSi's anytime soon?:D

The powered towers are a cool idea, but I honestly feel after you have them for a while, you'll want a real sub anyway to get the really deep extension. If you do, what's the point in paying the extra $$$ for the powered towers? I had a RT5000 system and that was the situation I found myself in. I opted to sell the system, get the LSI15s, and get a good sub (which I'm still waiting for) to handle 80hz and lower.

YMMV, but that was my experience.

I have both and like them along with a PSW650 sub. Depending on how much scotch I've drank, music or video, I can manipulate the amount of bass easily. I'm considering LSifx's for sides.

Lsi25 is much better than Lsi15 but they are a little bit tricky to set them up. It took me a few hours to have my both front LSi25 speakers and my PSW1000 subwoofer all in-phase. As soon as you have them all in-phase they are much better than LSi15. You will have amazing bass with LSi25. On the other side, LSi15 is very easy to set up, you only adjust phase on your subwoofer and it will take 1 minute you have decent sound, but with LSi15 you only have good bass not amazing bass like LSi25. I do not understand why there are many people prefer LSi15 to LSi25, but with my personal experience LSi25 is way to go. Another thing is LSi25 looks much better than LSi15. The only problem with LSi25 is the power cord kind of messy.

I have a pair of 25s at home and previously had the 15s. Either one makes for a fantastic set of speakers, I got a good deal on the 25s and found them worth the extra expense.

    +1.

I owned the Lsi15's and if I had to do it all over again, I would own the Lsi25's. They sound clearer up top and stronger down low. I assume they are crossed over differently then the 15's as they have more depth. I have done side by side between the 2 and kept liking the 25's more.

I didn't consider the 25 when I purchased the 15's as I didn't want a powered tower again. I owned the rt1000p's before the Lsi's and hated the fact that I had to constantly dial in the subs. After that experience I just wanted "NORMAL" front speakers.

Did you use a receiver to power them?

Curious also.... With proper amplification on the 15's they sounded a lot tighter on the bottom end then the 25's. I guess to each their own...

funny thing is, I think the 15's are actially harder to power than the 25, since amplifier power is only doing 80 - 100 and up do to it being a powered tower.

15 or 25 you need damn good amplification but its more of an issue with the 15. that said, blending the power tower subs and your regular sub will be a ****. all said, my vote is with the 15 (which is probably a good reason why I own them :) _

On top of that; the quality of amplification that can be used for the 15's sub, compared to one already in place with the 25's. This is one of the reasons why I feel the sub in the 25's to be more sloppy than the 15's.

I have never owned the LSi25s, or heard them, so I cannot comment on that speaker.

I do own 4 LSi15s, LSiC, and PSW1000, so I can make a subjective comment about these speakers.

In the audio world there are a lot of variables that influence the sound one hears. For example, room size, room acoustics, amp power, etc. all influence the bass, and overall sound. Originally, I was powering my speakers with a 175W/ch AVR, and I really had no major complaints regarding the sound. However, I also knew that any speaker will sound better with more power so I went to a Sunfire TGA-5400 external amp with 800w/ch at 4 ohms.

This made a big difference in bass from the LSi15s. It was tighter, stronger, clearer, and the overall sound quality was also much better. Additionally, I recently added acoustic foam to the walls to reduce sound reflections, and that also made a big difference in improving the sound quality.

Last week I had a few to many beers, went a little overboard with the power setting, and turned the volume to -5, while -15 is normally the loudest I use for HT. I played “Master and Commander”, and when the French ship opened fire at the beginning of the movie, I swear that between the PSW1000 (not even running at ½ volume) and the 4 LSi15s, the bass literally hit me. I was pounded in the chair by the rear LSi15s and had my chest crushed by the front LSi15s along with the sub.

That sobered me up enough to turn it down. Anyway, the LSi15 appears to have plenty of bass, plus they sound great with music.

I demo'd the 25's and the 15's extensively before pulling the trigger on my 15's. With my two sub's, there could not have been a better choice. In all, I prefer the 15's with separate subs. If you plan to run without a sub, then go 25.

I ran 2 LSi25s and 2 subs ( PSW1000 and PSW505) before and found the bass is incredible when all 4 of them in-phase. Even at very low volume, I could hear the low frequency. As I said before, to have all of them in-phase is not an easy task, I had to ask my wife and my 6 years old nephew switched the phase knobs for hours. I had to move the LSi25s to the left and right..., then move the subs to different location ..., then wife and nephew kept switching the phase knobs. My wife was mad but my nephew loved doing that because I paid him to do the work. At the end, we were all happy. I had all of them in-phase, wife listened to great sound, nephew got some money. LSi25s are great speakers but not everybody knows how to set them up. If only one of them out of phase, you will have crappy sound. Phase is the key for LSi25 owners.

If you study hard enough, you will graduate with honor.
