I'm still searching for answers. The processor that the amp was hooked up to is an older Denon AVC 700. It has been acting up during the last few months...there would be clicking noises and the thing would switch from one source to another by itself or sometimes the volume would just cut out. It would do it less, and sometimes not at all, when it was on for a while. That is why I was leaving the system ON all the time.

I'd hate to repair the amp and get the problem all over again when the possibility exists that the Denon "may have" suddenly sent a full power signal to the amps' right channel and hence blown the speakers.

I agree that the crossover looks fine. Damage is probably all in the drivers.

Check as many parts as you can with an ohmmeter.

Now that you have it apart its a good time to upgrade the XO. At least replace the 2 12uf's per side, and replace the resistors with Mill's.

They are indeed SL3000's not SL2000's. The color of the dome being a bronzish/pewter color (as well as it being a different material entirely) and the foam ring around the dome and the lack of "coated" leads L/R of the dome are dead giveaways. Plus on the magnet the sticker should give a date and a model # which will say SL3000. :)

P.s. Kind of you to offer

Yeah, I knew that:eek:; the TL is the clue. I just checked the schematics to be sure. My bad. Good Luck anyhow.

I'd send that amp to Guantanamo for an evening of water-boarding.

Thanks to Lasareath who donated and SL3000 tweeter and to Shadowofnight who donated 2 drivers and sold me 2 more, I am one step closer to getting my 3.1's back in action.

The amp has been sent out for repair and hopefully it won't cost too much to fix. And I still need to confirm that the crossovers are good and that the left speaker is good.

I'm proud to be a Polkie!
