..to expire, as of May's edition. Over the year, I've been losing interest on what they've written about. Too exotic and pricy for my taste. Oh one more thing, the font size is just too damned miniscule to make it a fun reading. Or am I just getting old? < no need to answer that > :p
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have felt the same way forever. If it wasn't so damn cheap I'd dump it too. Takes me about twenty minutes to thumb through one now. I miss the pre-internet days of 15-20 pages of Used Gear Classifieds at the ****-end. There were some absolute steals back then. Limited readership was helpful.

I don't think I pay a dollar an issue now.

Stereophile is entertaining, but not very useful for 95% of us. Way too much coverage on mega-buck stuff.

Every year I ponder whether to keep my Stereophile subscription or let it expire. I usually don't read the articles for the reason cfrizz mentioned. I basically get it to look at the pretty pictures. Stereophile would make a lot more money if they added scantily clad women in their pics of speakers. It befuddles me why they haven't done this yet.

I basically gave up on it as well. I feel the same as all you . it seems the writing quality has gone into the same thing the same thing like just changing the words around and plugging in brand x and this song y. I let mine run out last year.

I just get Home theater which I don't like the new format now that Moreen Jensen left9 I met her years ago , she is very cool and pretty).

Sound and Vision which is also getting lame.

Absolute sound which like Sterophile is boring and needs more pic's.

I still get it, but it is my least favorite. Not enough reviews in each issue. I do not care about an editors European classical music vacation, yet they always have that crap in there. When people complain about the price of their gear, they go to the other extreme and cover really cheap crap. I guess there is just too much competition to be in the middle area, where 90% of us are. They should publish a Stereophile Lite issue.

It's cheap enough, so I continue on account of what I imagine I'll miss instead of what's ever actually there...plus I prefer paper-mag to laptop in the head :D

I like my Stereophile, and will continue to subscribe. I'd keep it just for Wes Phillips being such a wordsmith, a great writer. Reminds me of Micah.

Stereophile Lite, I like the idea.

I keep it because it's cheap entertainment and something to read. I like the music review section and there's been things I buy based on what was evaluated. It just sucks because Playboy and Stereophile usually hit my mailbox on the same day (or within a couple of days) and it's a biotch figuring out which one to thumb thru first. :D

Anything written by Phillips shouldn't be titled "Lite". Both he and Corey Greenberg were present at the 40th birthday bash for Acoustic Research back in 1994 at Grand Central Station. Corey was attended by a couple of exceptionally ratty looking New York street urchins. They were going on at length about how good his new hairstyle looked. Me and my buddy Ray were laughing our asses off. Great press coverage. Phillips CLEARLY looks like he never met a cheeseburger, enchilada, corndog, or whole chicken that didn't agree with him. The only way you were talking to him is if you were over by the buffet thing heaping it on.

George, didn't Wes loose a boatload of weight in the last year?

It still makes good reading material for sitting on the rear deck or for the bathroom.

For what amounts to a buck an issue I have no problem with Stereophile. I think it's important and a cheap way to help keep our hobby visible to the masses.

I keep getting frustrated when I see something I want to read about but find they have some two page intro of something stupid that is supposed to give you some feeling about their experience. It is usually something totally off topic. Its to the point I just say eff it most times and throw the magizine down.

He may have. From what I saw back then he sure could've afforded to. Boatload would be about right.

I have both Stereophile and TAS. Sterophile has become my throne reading material and damn it is hard to read. In an issue of TAS they made it a point to note that they increased the font size so us cheaters wears wouldn't have to.

The first place I go to when I get a new issue is "Analog Corner." I love ole Mikey.

I am another in the old days camp of Sterophile being a much better magazine.
