I sent a western union MO to HI and they charged him $20 to cash it.

    Thats weird???

I've done a few western union transactions and the only charge i've seen is when you transfer money. Their charges are steep, i did a $245usd trans and was charged an extra 40 bucks......
In terms of audio, i truly feel sorry for the visually impaired. How can they know what they like if they cant read google?

I don't use Paypal and that was big of you to offer. Thanks Michael. I didn't say I distrust the buyer. In fact, I think he is well-intentioned and may have stated so previously. I just dislike hassles/surprises.

Paypal is convenient, relatively inexpensive, and hassle-free. To not utilize this helpful service is just backwards.

Have you tried taking it to your US postal service outlet and not a bank as it is a POSTAL money order? It was not drawn as you say, on some Canadian bank, if it truely is a postal money order then it was drawn at a Post Office.

Here are some facts about POSTAL Money orders!

Money Orders made payable to individuals may be cashed at any post office without charge.
Canadian Money Orders of issuance in CDN or UK currency will maintain the current peach colour and have serial numbers beginning with “1”
Canadian Money Orders of issuance in US currency are pale green in colour with serial numbers beginning with “0”

I would suggest that you go to your local American post office and you should have no problems getting your money.
I hope this helps the situation. Good luck

On another note, I am curious as to why it is a "Canadian" problem or fault when it is clearly your lack of understanding on what or how a Postal money order works? Funny logic!

Well , it's a Canadian type problem to me, cause if this check came from a US bank, or I guess was a US Postal Service money order, I wouldn't be having a problem. But it's from Canada so I'm having a problem.

It's finished and over anyhow. A business loss and a lesson.

hey George, gfong might have a point, is it the peach colored postal money order? I know the one I got to pay the guy in Canada for my deal was peach colored, which would tell me the post office will cash it, just bring ID.

worth a shot, worst they will say is no

only hole in his theory is my guy must have got me to do the peach money order for a reason, and might not have been able to cash the green one in Canada like you might not be able to cash the peach one here.

as I said, worth a shot. I'm kinda curious

I have some more vinyl to ship from the PO. I'll give it a try, and also have an envelope made out to ship it back if need be.

You got a peach colored Canadian postal money order from OUR post office? Or you got one of those from a customer and the po cashed it?

I am the guy that George sent the vinyl to and who sent George a perfectly negotiable "postal" money order in US funds. What I negated to tell George was that all he need do is take it to a US post office and he will receive every penny. Banks are always looking to make a buck (or twenty). I have done over 50 various purchases with US sellers (yahoo auctions, cigar sellers, ebay etc.) and have not once had a problem with the seller getting their money when the money order is taken to a US postal outlet. I just wish George had talked to me before passing judgement and condemning all business transactions with Canadian buyers. George...I have sent you a pm and you have my sincere apologies for the hassle. I will wire the money, send cash, direct bank deposit, whatever it takes to make this good if the post office doesn't honor it. I will also make a donation to the school in whatever amount you desire to make up for your grief.

Thanks EB. Weird character trait. If I'm fairly certain I'm about to take it in the shorts I make a stink about it.

No apologies necessary as long as this thing works as advertised. No extra tariff for grief, nothing like that. I just like to conduct business with no surprises. It was a pretty good surprise at my bank yesterday. Okay?

I agree with some that Paypal, despite the extra charges is the way to go when shipping to Canada or Internationally. Very cut and dry, and makes the shipping a lot easier too when printing out the US Postal customs forms.

I got a postal money order for $53 US Dollars, probably drawn on some Canadian bank. My bank has to send it out to another bank. My bank will charge me $25, and the OTHER bank will charge me $25. I might see $3 out of this piece of crap. They said I MIGHT be able to get it cashed without fees at an international airport. Yippee. Nice waste of both my time, vinyl, AND money. Screw it, I'm sending this piece of paper back to Canada where it MIGHT be worth something.

Hey, be nice to your neighbours, up north...for one their money is worth the same or more than your US buck. ....

why are people getting ignored for mentioning p&y p%l. I didn't out right say it so please don't ignore me too.

It's too bad this happened cause there will be alot more Americans not wanting to deal with Canadians now. I just tried to purchase something in the FM awhile back and he wouldn't sell to me cause i'm Canadian. It's funny actually cause i was going to give him full price for it and later on i noticed he had to reduce his asking price...hahaha. Looks like he still hasn't sold it and that was back in March. Shame really cause i had to go buy one new and he had to take less than his asking price.
