Well at least I wasn't installing a satellite dish!
She is selling her house so I am up doing some remodeling here. The paint was in real bad shape so... I scraped, power washed, and scraped some more.

The trim isn't done, and the shutters are not up yet, but it is a little better than before. My neighbor was out, and I went over to say hi. He said "what a son". I am usually used to hearing "of a ****" at after what a son:p Well mom is happy. Hopefully next time I am up I can get to visit some people, and have my girls:)

It's amazing what a coat of paint and a SH*TLOAD of prep does.

Mom just stepped in, and said I should clear something up. The ugly pic is not how it looked before I started prepping it. Ugly, faded, and peeling, but not as bad as pic 1. When I started prepping it just kept coming off in sheets. Bad primer from the original paint job. I used to paint for about 10 years, but I broke my back, and neck in five spots so I can't do manual labor type of work anymore. I have to do computers, and other technical indoor stuff instead. I actually loved to work outdoors, and do different trades like electrical, tree work, and construction.

That was quick! Shingle looks so much better with a fresh coat, and a muted color. Nice.

Thanks Guys. Its by no means a job I would brag about, but it certainly is much better than before. I put way more prep into it than a typical blast it out for sale type of paint job. I want it to actually hold up well for the next owner. It really should be resided, but this should hold them out for 5 years anyway.

You're a good boy! BTW, I think it looks better without the shutters....or maybe just a different color.

It's the paint. With freshly painted shutters it would look even better.

I repainted my house 3 years ago. The cedar shakes took 3 heavy coats, they get real thirsty if they haven't been painted in a long time.

Hey DB, or any others. One big tip to anyone with a good amount of priming to be done... Get your primer tinted to near the topcoat color. Did the scraping, priming, and 2 coats of finish on the trim today. My mom doesn't want to spend $30 on a pair of shutters for the house to replace 2 broken ones so I will pick them up:) The shutters will be shot black just because this house is going to be put on the market soon. There isn't enough trim to not use shutters here. If I had some nice soffit, and corner boards I might consider omitting the shutters, but I am with Face on this one.

Oh yeah. Out of the blue the TV antenna That I never touched fell down! No wind! Nothing! The tree branches have been dropping all around with no wind too. Looks better without the old rusty antenna, and wires any way.

Nice job. Painting is on the short list of things I least like to do. Not the painting, but all of the friggin' prep to do it right. Talk about a PITA. But it's worth the effort when it all comes together...

Not this trip:p Next one. I did however help my buddy install all the trim in the bathroom. The tiles on the wall where 6-7 inches from the floor so we needed a wide baseboard. I found some ship lap pine siding that fit the bill nicely. It took a little picking through the pile to get clean pieces, but the final result was worth it. 6" molding would not work so we had to improvise.
Mom is happy so I am happy. Oh yeah I had to put in a new toilet too...
