Thanks for the reply guys. You've been a big help! Ideally, it would be great to hit reference levels cleanly, but having 2 kids (5 yrs and 2 yrs) would likely not be in my best interests ;) Dare I say, I'm coming from 7 year old 5.1 Bose Acoustimass speakers and subwoofer.

For clarification, I haven't purchased the RCi's as of yet so have an opportunity to get something else. Based on customer reviews, I just thought those would suffice for my needs and I think you validated that for me Matt34.

    Hey DK,

Nice review! I love my dual 3000s too. Polk really needs to redesign the packaging for these subs. Both mine arrived in the same condition as yours, but the packaging was mangled never to be reused.

Our basement is approximately 1,650 square feet with 9' ceilings. About 1,500 square feet is finished and completely open with the exception of a bathroom and smaller bedroom (11'x13'); otherwise, there are no other dedicated rooms. The space constraint has more to do with WAF and every other area in the basement being consumed with another purpose.

You have a big space, but if you are not trying to "fill up" that space and if you are not going to be sitting far away from the speakers, I think the MicroPro 4000 will work fine. The SVS will give you more tactile sensation. The SVS would also be a good option if you are reasonably certain that you will be moving to larger speakers in the future.

For speaker compatibility with your room and the SVS PB13/U, I would refer you to SVS customer service. They typically respond within a few hours. Be sure to state your room dimensions, furniture arrangement, and listening level preferences.

I looked into ordering a replacement box from Polk, but the cost of the box and the cost to ship it was much more than having a custom box made at a local packing and shipping company...plus, I got a much better box.:)

I am building a home theatre system with 4 Def Tech Mythos 2 wall speakers, 1 Mythos 3 Centre speaker and wanted to know if the DSW MircoPro 2000 would work for the system and space that I have. The system will be in my family room which is in a house with an open floor plan. The area for the family room is ~25x16 ft and there is quite a bit of glass windows in that space. The system will be used primarily for listening to music (80% music). Originally I thought of going with a MartinLogan Abyss that these are discontinued and no longer sold. Let me know your thoughts.

I don't have any personal experience with either the Def Tech Mythos 2 or the MicroPro 2000. Just from looking at the size and performance specs of the speakers and sub, they would appear to be a good match.

I found a brief review on Amazon.com by someone who is using the Mythos 2's with a MicroPro 1000. He is very pleased with the combination and appears to be planning to upgrade to the MicroPro 2000: Amazon Mythos 2/MicroPro 1000 Review.

DK, your advice on the larger speakers was spot on. After talking with SVS, they recommended moving up to the next series of speakers. Otherwise, I would never get the performance I paid for out of the PB13-Ultra. The "weak" link would be the speakers. So, we are moving forward with purchasing the LC265i's for L/R, LCi-C for center, and the LC80i's for the rear channel. Thanks again.

Thanks for yr reponse. I went with a MartinLogan Abyss instead - got a great deal from Bestbuy on a demo item; $199 plus tax. Could not pass up this sweet deal.
