Adcom GFA-7700 Multi-Channel Amplifier - Black - 9/10 - *SOLD* to Neskahi

This piece was part of a 7.1, 14 amplifier, bi-amplified system that is being decommisioned and rebuilt. It's minty fresh, the interior is spotless and 100% operational. It was bought in 2004 and was treated like a new girlfriend, without the romantic drama.

It's a modular design which is very smart in my eyes, for any multi-channel amplifier. This is a beast with a huge toroid power supply, individual capacitance for each channel and it's rock solid, 4ohm stable. The 4ohm power ratings are not given in the user manual but its clearly stated, that it can run 4-2ohm loads.

175wpc@8ohm

• Precision-matched devices used throughout the signal path.
120,000 μF of power supply-filter capacitance for greater reserve capacity.
Independent power supplies for each channel.• Fewer gain stages improve signal reproduction accuracy.
• Custom toroidal power transformer provides better regulation and greater peak current capability.
• Independent thermal-overload and distortion LEDs for all 5 channels.
• High quality, gold-plated 5-way binding posts.
• High quality, gold-plated RCA jacks.
Large independent, internal heatsinks for greater cooling capability of output devices.• Convenient 12 VDC power ON/OFF triggering.
• Heavy gauge, anodized aluminum front panel.
• Powder-coated, baked chassis and top cover for greater durability.
• Cooling vents for greater efficiency and cooler operation while driving low impedance loads.
• Standard DB-25 connector to simplify installation

Adcom GFA-7700 Review - 2003

The amp has been spit shined, treated with CAIG products and is packed to withstand a nuclear blast.

Includes: User Manual.

Wow, never knew panhandlers and prostitutes were so meticulous about caring for their equipment. Most of your equipment is mint or near mint.

Guys if you are looking for a killer over built amp for your system this can't be beat at its cost. These are going for around $1000+ on Ebay plus shipping. The shipping is about $50 alone so the amp is less than $800:confused: And it is mint if Doro gives it a 9/10. No worries about getting junk, bad packaging, or defective product here.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

If this amp is anything like the GFA-7500 I just added to my system, it will make someone's Polks SING! If you have'n't tried separates, you don't know what you're missing and you should jump on this.

It's basically the "newer" version of that amplifier Dpowell. The GFA-7500 was introduced in 1998, the GFA-7700 is from 2002.

What did you upgrade from? I'm happy that you're happy :)

Well.... I got what was a pristine amp, until our friends at UPS decided to do some field modifications to it. It was packed quite well and for the life of me I cant imagine the abuse this package took while in transit. When I went to hook
things up, I noticed an rca jack was... gone! So I removed the top cover and found that all of the heat sinks were shifted to the left, one so much that it
pulled the rca jack back into the amp. All of the PC boards were bowing to
a point that they would eventually crack and all of the rca jacks were cocked
so that the interconnects were at an angle. This thing must have fallen from
35K feet to do this kind of damage. Absolutely no external damage. Let me
say again it was packed great.

The heat sinks are screwed to the bottom of the amp. I was able to loosen each
of them and bend the screw holes to level and straiten PC boards and heat sinks, and
get the amp rca jack mounted securely. The amp works great and does put some heat out.
Now, can anyone tell me if I can use 4 of the channels to bi-amp 1.2TL's ? I tested the
amp[bi-amped with 4 of the channels] on some Snell CV's and they sound better than ever. But will I run into the common ground issue on the 1.2TL's? Thanks.
