Flappy paddle shifters? BAH! Row the gears yourself! Much more satisfying!

Most definitely. The ZR1 is targeted at the performance of Ferrari's and Porsche's, but not exactly to replicate the driving experience of those cars. It's still an American muscle car, and that makes a standard 6-speed transmission mandatory!

Son #1 claims he's gonna buy a Vette.
Maybe he'll let me borrow it?:D

I wouldn't so sure. last year, Top-Gear test drove the Z06 (I know its slightly different but still), including testing it on their race track (it was quicker then a Zonda, and the Ferrari 430 and 575). it did so well that Jeremy clarkson, a Ferrari nut, summarized the segment saying something like "its as good as a Ferrari, but costs less then half, why buy a Ferrari then? "

    here's the vid

as cool as the vette is and years ago 600+ hp would juice me in all kinds of ways. Today with the gas prices so high and no end in sight, my car enjoyment is now a torn in my side. I'd rather get juiced up on a hybrid or a fully electric/ hygro car.

If you're worried about the price of gas, that car isn't for you.
