In order to comment on your situation, please provide:
1) amp/recvr make/model/specs
2) program material
3) source component(s)
4) room size & shape
5) volume level (spl in dB if you've got a meter)
AFAIK, there are no known issues w/ the RT600 when set-up & driven properly.

I bought a pair of RT600's when they came out still have them no problems. I would say it was something else in your system.TV: Philips 42" LCD 1080p

Surround Speakers: Polk Audio R50's powered of Denon AVR
Subwoofer: Polk Audio DSW pro500
AVR: Denon 3801
DVD Player: Denon DVM 745 upscale 1080p
Sat: Directtv HD 10
Front Speakers Amp: Rotel RB 890
Center Speaker amp: Rotel 970 BX -
They're solid speakers. My first set of polks....10 yrs later I'm still using then as surrounds with zero problems.
Eventually I want to upgrade and timbre match my setup to include my rti8s, but after adding an amp and messing with the placement....it's not urgent.
Check your setup.
