I have an opportunity to purchase a Sony 60" SXRD for $1250. Model # KDS60A3000. It's an open box floor model and comes with standard 1 year Sony warranty. Does anybody have an opinion on whether or not this is a smart purchase?

is it a floor model? if so, buy a spare lamp, just in case.

I have its sibling, 55" - the best ROI that I've done. Best PQ, bar none.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Great TV, Great price. This was the last, and greatest RPTV from Sony. There is a huge thread over at AVS forum on this TV that will help you tweak the settings to where you will have one of the best currently available pictures in any TV, at any price. I wouldn't necessarily get a new bulb now, but instead, I'd probably add an extended warranty that has bulb coverage. The Mack Combo warranties from Tapesworks Texas are about the best deal. They add 3 years to the factory warranty and a 3 year total bulb warranty, all for about the cost of a replacement bulb.
See profile for rigs. Nothing else here.

I bought the predecessor model KDS60A2000 in Sept of 2006 and so did my younger brother. Pretty much the same light engine although the new one added another HDMI input. Absolutely an outstanding RPTV and a steal at that price. The extended warranty is one of those personal choices (some like em', some don't) but the bulb wear may be a consideration on a "floor unit". I haven't priced the bulb on mine yet as it only has around 2500 hours on it but I just replaced the bulb on my Dad's JVC RPTV and it was $225 delivered from JVC. Buy that thing immediately.:D

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on this. I was told it was a customer return and not the floor model. If true, they have a 10 day return policy so this should be pretty close to new in terms of lamps life. Scenario seems possible since there was a second TV still set-up as the floor display. Having it delivered on Saturday.

Great set , go for it . I'm a fan of all the last few year Sony tv's. Hell I liked just about every model they ever released except the early Lcd's. They where not so good.
