Since many of you have tried to help me on this problem, I thought you would like to have an update as to what I found out after trying many of your suggestions. I talked to Ken at Polk this morning and explained the problem of the dimensional drivers not working in the left channel of my SDA SRS speakers. I told him of all of the great suggestions for trouble shooting that the guys on the forum gave me and how I had completed most of those suggestions with no specific results. He was very helpful and offered to send the trouble shooting guide for SRS speakers so after I had given him my address, he made a suggestion which I had not thought of to test the speakers. He told me to unhook the wires from the black connectors on both speakers and then play a stereo recording. He said that the red connections were the ones that operated the dimensional array and that after disabling the main array, I should hear both the right and left channel dimensional arrays. If the left channel didn't make any sound, then we could quickly narrow it to the most likely problem....the crossover. I did as he said and the test resulted in no sound from the left side...the right side operated correctly. After checking the left crossover network with a VOM, I found that there was no flow coming from the blue and white wires coming out of the crossover network. Just to confirm, I pulled the right channel crossover and checked the blue and white wires coming out of the crossover and got plenty of current flow. The white and blue wires are the ones that power the dimensional arrays. In a nutshell, the left crossover has a problem. Now I have to figure out who can fix it....I have no one in this area that would know what to do so any suggestions are welcome. I could send it in to Polk according to Ken since he is the one that works on the crossovers from what he told me during our conversation. Anyway, that is where I stand right now....the speakers still sound outstanding but I am not getting the full effect of which they are capable. Thanks for your help!!!

Just as a caveat, Ken enjoys the hobby, not assuming additional work if at all possible. Perhaps F1Nut is the conduit to Ken's new public workload.....I don't know.

dorokusai....got a question...I took a look at your wiring post for the SDA SRS and noticed that the green wire that goes to the array speakers is a white wire in my speakers!! Is that a problem...? The stereo array has the white and black wires per your schematic, but the dimension array has blue and white wires....My left speaker was made sometime in late October of 1985 and the right speaker about a month later..

Sal....thanks for the offer....your a great guy!! Unfortunately, it is no small distance between Arkansas and New Jersey!! I don't have the knowledge but I don't mind taking the suggestion for an update. Just need someone to let me know they want to do it, I can send the crossovers or put them up for a weekend if they want to vacation in Mountain Home!! I am open for discussion....

It's a factory schematic, verify it with Ken.

Lasareath....Thanks for your information and help!!! I do not have the ability to upgrade the crossovers but would entertain having someone do them... perhaps the ALL Mighty DarqueKnight would do it. Of course, I bet I would have to rob a bank to pay for it...honestly, I have no idea what it would be worth. Someone would just have to quote a price and then I could clear the moths from my wallet!!!!

I can tell you right now, DarqueKnight isn't interested. Do you have any hi-fi repair shops close by?

No hi-fi repair shops in this area. We have a couple of "boutique" type shops and a major Klipsch dealer but after trying to have a Sansui QRX-9001 receiver repaired, I couldn't find any repair person that wanted to tackle the job.... Honestly, until I found this forum and a couple of others, most of the locals couldn't answer questions when I had them. I live in a "desert" when it comes to the land of audiophiles!! Looks like that I might have to settle for the crossover to be repaired by Ken..... BUT, I still would like to get the upgrade everyone is talking about!!!

Can you post a couple of pictures so that we know what we're looking at? I MIGHT be interested in rebuilding them.

Well...nobody can say that you guys don't try to help!!! It is just unbelievable!!....Now, I don't have a problem with the cost of the parts. Don't even have a problem with having a guest....My wife is an excellent cook!!! Just don't know if I can afford the cost of the flight.....especially since we will be going on a 10 day cruise aboard the Freedom of the Seas......So, it might be more effective to ship the crossovers to you. If we go that route, how much total are we talking about which includes your doing them???

    Sal....
Been gone all day and just got your message above. Just let me know in detail the parts list....no problem with paying for them. Then you can decide if I am sending them to you or if you are coming this direction. As far as your offer to do them for nothing, I appreciate that generous gesture.....I will find a way to compensate you if in fact you end up doing them. I have found through all of the tests that it might be an easy fix if I were to just replace one part on the crossover board. But if an update on both boards will improve the already fantastic sound....lets do it!! I am ready for a parts list!!
