apparently I needed a new hobby.

I was at Guitar World actually looking for a keyboard (I played one waaay back in the day and my musical bug has bit me later in life). The one's I wanted were pretty expensive.

I was looking all through the store and wandered past the bass guitars. I always loved the bass, and always wanted to learn it. I figured going to the keyboard was going to be hard anyway since it was so long since I played, I figured f%^k it, maybe I'll get a bass.

picked out a relativly cheap Fender Squire and saw an Acoustic bass amp that was in the (I just wanna try this) price range. I was still mulling it over when I heard someone playing a bass with a tone I really liked. funny enough, it was a guy playing the bass i picked on the amp I picked. My friend and I talked to the guy playing and said he was picking out a starter bass amp for his nephew who was just starting out.....with the same bass I picked.

he said he was really impressed with the amp and couldnt be beat for the price. I agreed, since while I cant play a bass yet, I know what a good bass tone sounds like very well, and I liked what I was hearing with this set up.

I took this as divine intervention and bought the set up on site. guess I;m spending money on making music instead of listening to it..LOL

wish me luck, I might need it.

I bought a bass off eBay (Fernandes Gravity 4X, unused) a year or two ago for $50. Still haven't learned how to play the thing, I guess I need to learn how to manage my free time better.

Good luck on that Lou. Perhaps a demo at a future Polkfest is in order.

Hey, that's awesome! Good luck with it!

I've been picking on a friend's guitar he let me borrow for about 6 weeks now. Haven't picked it up for the last week, though. :o I was just getting some pretty good callouses that were starting to peel, but since I haven't played in about a week they're pretty much gone. :(

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of keyboards/price ranges are in stock? :D I'd LOVE to have an electric keyboard that feels like a real piano. I fell in love with a Yamaha P120, I believe it was, a while back, but couldn't justify the money...and still can't. :(

cant remember models, but a keyboard piano with piano feeling keys ranged from 500-600 for basic piano sound to well over a g for the more pro/fancy stuff.

making arrangements for in house lessons. there a little mor epricey, but not having to drive somewhere for lessons might keep me in the game longer (better use of my time)

I played the bass guitar and string bass for about 5 years or so. It was a lot of fun till I broke my hand, haven't been able to play since.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I was more specifically asking about the 'inventory' that reeltrouble might have available. The P120 I fell in love with was about $900, IIRC.

    Congrads man,
I started playing guitar in 1979. I played for years. Then in the 90's I put it down. Left it down for 13 years. Got the bug a few years ago and started back up.

Listening to music is one thing, playing and writing is another.

    Bliss,

I have nice Korg SP-200 with 88 weighted keys I could let go, has a variety of very nice voice patches and it is easy to layer sounds, customize effects, change key signatures, has a built in metronome, midi in/out, it was around a grand new, so around 450 then the ship. Like almost all my stuff its cosmetics are excellent, I have used it as my back-up to the board I gig with. I can throw in a Fender Keyboard amp for another 100.00.

You should know that weighted boards are not light I would guess this one is 55-60 pounds at least.

Anyway, if your really interested lets move it to PM.
