Integrating PSW1000 with the RT5000 system

Ken,
I posted this in the subwoofer section but thought I'd ask you directly.
I recently purchased the PSW1000 here on the forum and have added it to my RT5000 setup. I have it configured now to where it blends quite nicely but I have a question. Here is how I have things configured now:
On the AVR, speakers are set to Large
RT3000 subs are connected to the L/R line-level outputs and x-overs set to 80hz
PSW1000 is connected from Sub output on AVR to L input, not LFE input and x-over set to 60hz. This is where it seems to blend best.
When I set the speaker size on the AVR to small, things don't sound good as the PSW1000 seems to become over-bearing and to 'directional'
What I'm curious about is the PSW1000 has a volume control that goes to 11. I have it set at about 1 to 1.5 and it sounds really good. It blends and I don't get a sense of any directional bass. Any louder than that and it become too loud for the rest of the system for music. On movies a 2 does really well and at 3, the house begins to vibrate.
Does this setup seem normal or am I missing there being a reason why I don't seem to need 90% of the output capability of the PSW1000? Maybe because the RT3000's are producing a good portion of the bass signal range, the PSW1000 just has to fill in the very bottom?
