does everyone here have a full blown wheel and pedals setup or can you do well with just the controller?

I think I want to get this game but not if its going to cause me to buy the full setup.

I'm driving fine with the controller, and they even have the rumblepack controllers out now. I'd still like to pick up a wheel/pedals setup, but will probably wait for the full version of this to come out next year...

There’s a sweet deal at best buy right now if anyone is interested. If you get GT5P you can buy a DS3 controller for only $20 extra. Saves you $40, which is the cost of the game, so you’re basically getting it for free.

As for the classes, I finnished S,A,B and C now. I’m just saving up the 2 million for that F2007. It’s going to be sweet!

I've found that online is only fun in pro races, and only on tracks that aren't ovals. But when you do get into a race with some good players that don't cheat its one of the best online racing experiences I've ever had.

That's a tough one. I went through C and all the others in B in pretty much first try, but I'm still working on that (haven't tried it since though). Make sure you rev that Integra all the way to 9k before shifting, that helps a lot.

Isn't this only in Canada though? If not, I am IN!

I'd also like to know if it's available at Best Buy in the US. If anyone knows that'll be helpful, if not I'll stop by on the way home tonight and check and post back here.

Wow... went home for lunch and picked up GT5 on the way at Costco ($35). I'm really impressed. Looks amazing, and feels pretty realistic, even using the controller.

I was a few grand short of buying my Subaru :( but I still managed to win the first couple of Class C races with the Ford Focus. I know I'm going to want a wheel now, but hopefully I can still do ok with the controller.

oh... the update failed halfway through downloading. What is that? Important? My wireless network doesn't seem to play well with the PS3. The Playstation store always seems slow and loses connection periodically. My laptop never has a problem though.

It's important if you want to play online.

You should go to your system settings and check your wireless connection. If it’s below 50% you might want to move your playstation. It might just be the update; I had to try about 10 times to get it to work, but when I play the game online I get a very good connection.

I had the same thing as Imperitor. Took me forever to get the DL to finish. My connection to the PS store is usually iffy (I expect to get disconnected at least once each time), but when I jam cod4, my connection is perfect for hours, so I am stumped.

    At least its free...

ok someone help me. I'm stuck on the Class B Event where you have to pass everyone in one lap in the Honda. Best I can manage is 6th. I've cleared the Class C and the rest of the B event pretty easily but this one is driving me nuts.

    Any tips?

Keep it on standard physics, turn off all the driving aids and draft as much as possible. If you redo this race over and over again you should notice that the AI cars take the same lines every time. Use this to your advantage.

thanks, didn't even notice the exact same post above. I've got the physics set to pro so I'll definitely switch that out.

As much as I love racing on pro, it's impossible to win some of the harder races unless you switch it to standard.
