like the title says.
I had this thing boxed and ready to go for a while. Now that I was gonna send it out I decided to give it another try. At first it just wasn't working. popped fuse. So I put another one in and it popped. I thought I had the problem everyone else had so I was just gonna send it in. Now a few months later when I have some spare cash for repair, I decided to try again. This time the fuse doesn't blow. So I decided to plug the woofer back in. Fuse doesn't blow. I hadn't screwed the amp back in and I noticed that distinct smell. you know of hot electronics. then I start to see smoke. Very faintly. I decided not to input any audio. I have a digi-multimeter. How can i check the sub
any suggestions? should i just send it in anyway? I really cant afford to buy a new amp or pay 100 - 200 to repair this one.
on another note. my tri-lam tweeters melted around the outter circumference.
where to get replacements? also need the gold s shaped parts for the bi-wire terminals.
thanx

Hello,
Welcome to the Forum. At this point it would be best to remove the bass amplifier and the 12" woofer from the speaker cabinet and send them to Polk Audio, 2550 Britannia Blvd., Suite A, San Diego, CA. 92154. Please include a short note giving us your name, address and a copy of your sales receipt. You can purchase replacement tweeters for the majority of our speakers at 1-800-377-7655, be sure to mention your Club Polk membership for reduced part price and free shipping.
Regards, Ken -

Hello,
You would want to include a daytime telephone number with the amplifier. You could, at a very low level, connect the 12" woofer to your receiver's speaker wires and see if it sounds correct. The key words are "very low level" resisit the temptation to turn up the volume if the woofer doesn't sound correct. My reasons for sending the woofer had to do with the possibility of a shorted woofer voice coil that was causing the bass amplifier's temperature increase. But, you can listen to the woofer directly powered by your receiver and decide if you want to send it or not. When you talk to the San Diego service person mention that you would like replacement woofer decorative gasket and they will send it.
