Wishes SRS SDA 3.1TL's

I'd love to own a set of these. I've owned a set of SDA-2B's for over 20 years and overall I've really enjoyed them. I guess this model is pretty rare. Something to look forward and wish about. Wouldn't have room for anything much larger space wise. They'd have a good home be taken care of and appreciated for a lifetime. Probably give the SDA 2B's to my son that is a musician since all I ever listen to is 2-channel stereo even movies. I have a Rava sub that works pretty well. Might be looking for another used one of those too.

Take a serious look at the 1C's. The 3.1's are pretty big. Both are real nice.

Compact? No, if I have room for the SDA-2B's should have room for the 3.1tl's. I'll confirm the specs. That's the next size up right? Thanks, I did check out the Compact if that's what you mean? I'm no polk expert by no means just been getting back up to steam on Polk history the last few days mostly here.

I owned the 3.1TL's for about 15 years. 3.1TL's are fine speakers. But, for most of that time I owned them, I yearned for the 2.3TL's. I would have, also, gladly traded them for a nice set of 1C's.

My advice: go for the 1C's or spring for the 2.3TL's. I do agree the 1.2 is overkill for most applications.

Or if you can find a nice "small" set of SRS II's.....those are keepers, too.

Well I have SDA 2b's so I yearn for the small SRS. I will look at the dimensions of the 2.3TL's.
Seem like the 3.1's would be just about the right size upgrade. I sit pretty close to them in my listening space. Wishful thinking. I sure do appreciate the remarks, thank you.

SRS 2's is the way to go, forget about the 3.1's, they are very strange, only 1 tweeter and 1 SDA speaker?, very weird.

Actually one tweeter is better than multiple dome tweeters. I have tried many variations of crossovers in my custom SDA's, and one or 2 tweeters have always sounded best. The one dimensional woofer is 4 ohms so a decent amount of signal is going through that one driver. I had the 3.1's, and they are huge, and very musical. The sound stage is not as wide as other SDA arrangements that I have tried out, but still a very nice dual duty speaker.

I love them for their sound and size.

SRS3.1TL 48" H x 15-3/4" W x 13-3/8" D This is what worked out for me the most. Lack of room width made these a perfect fit for me.

How close? To close isn't best.

You don't know how good near field listening is until you try it. My "normal" position is close to a 7" triangle, but sometimes I pull my chair closer. love it.

Gotta work with the space and environment that you have. Lean back another foot. My point is I don't think I'd need anything bigger than what's listed.. Just something different to play with. Anything new even if It's old I like..

Ok; not sure how to read that. I am not saying you need anything bigger...I agree that near field is a great way to listen to music.

On the 3.1TL's, I owned them and also the 1.2TL's; there's not much difference in the sound, except maybe for a smaller soundstage. But unless you live in a stadium, the big boys are overkill for most "normal" listening environments. The benefit you would get is the trilaminate tweeter. But you could lose some soundstage compared to your current SDA's.

    Good luck in your search.

Yeah, I know it... I'm not looking that hard I just did a SDA mod/upgrade tweets that I'm ecstatic about the results. The 3.1's are just on my wish dream list to prank with. I still love my SDA- 2b's. Guess I just want something new to prank and play with:)

    Thanks,

Rays_Fan, has SRS2's and loves them. They are very nice speakers.
3.1TL they have 4-drivers, 1-tweeter and 1-12" passive sub for stereo listening and 1 driver for SDA effect. Total 1-tweeter,5-drivers and 1-12" passive sub per speaker.

    Good luck on your search,

I would have to say the SRS 2s are on my wish list. They aren't as big as some of the others, but sound like the big boys from what I've heard. (I've never heard them) Plus, I think a lot is gained by spacing the stereo and SDA drivers further apart (SRS 2 vs 1C).

Yeah I think you're right. Now that I think I already have the SDA-2B's might as well jump up to the 2.1tl's. Think I'd be much happier.

The rubber surrounds on those look in pretty rough shape and appear to have brown gunk on them.

Jesus, that's a lot of money for 3.1's. You are a freak Las! Must be nice to throw money at SDA's :D. That's ridiculous to pay over $800 for those. :). Have fun!!!

Brand new.... in 1991.... I think the MSRP was $2K. Dealers would sell them for $1800.

If you think about it, paying $800 for a pair is only 40% of original MSRP. Not too shabby in those terms, but still a lot.

$800 is the "going" price for 3'1TL's in good condition.
