    Ian Bird, project leader for Cern’s high-speed computing project, said grid technology could make the internet so fast that people would stop using desktop computers to store information and entrust it all to the internet.
    I don't see that happening, not anytime soon at least.

    So it's not the end of the internet, it's the end of the "Internet"; big difference and the practice of it isn't going anywhere but up. We'll probably end up with some iRobot total integration thing soon too.

    So all there doing is using fiberoptic cables for data transfer. Some people already us fiberoptic for internet access. The internet is not dead. I hate fox.

    Is this the same thing as the "Internet 2.0" that universities have been using for a while for faster transfer speeds?

    If it only takes two minutes to send the whole Stone's catalog to Japan, I wonder how long it would take to get to Saturn. I don't think you can pick up the Stones on Saturn (not yet).
