Negative effects of zip ties?

Anyone know any negative effects of zip tying cables to an audio rack? I'm tired of looking to the back of my rack and seeing all the cables so I want to neaten them up and zip tie them to the stand so I don't see them.

Other than being a PITA to change cables, are there any sound quality issues by having the RCA's against the metal of the rack?

k good, I just zip tied all the power cables and RCA cables to the stand. :) Looks much better seeing no cables through the back.

I know it was a stupid question, but had to make sure for grounding, interference, etc.

I guess the biggest thing i was curious was because the stand has only 1 vertical in the back, so I was zip tying the power cables down the left side and the RCA cables down the right side on the same pole....so I guess technically you could call them in the same bunch....probably should have been more clear. The power cables and RCA cables are about 2.5 inches apart now....too close?

The biggest negative I know regarding zip cables is the hassle required to undo them and redo them if you decide you want to move or rearrange your equipment. If everything is permanently where you want it to be then I say go for it.

Boy oh boy!! how true that is. I used zip cables at first thinking that I wouldn't be making any changes. Wrong! What a pain it was having to break out the scissors to cut them (very, very, carefully). That was a quickly learned lesson. Now it's velcro ties & any changes are now a snap. Just do your best to keep PC's away from analog/digital cables & there won't be any problems. Having everything neat & tidy is high on my list also.

Those velcro straps work great. Pick the colour to blend in with the cables and you will hardly notice them.

when its time to rewire with added equipment, theres always the added hassle of cutting the zip ties and redoing them to fit all you're new inputs/accessories to your HT setup, I'd rather go with the velcro just in case

I have seen ties on coax cause problems if they're too tight and then the cables are moved.

Since then I don't tighten ties down too tight on signal carrying cables.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.
