Hey, waiting for a response from Polk cs but thought I'd hit here too. The schematics are listed for the rt2000p in the sticky but not the rt2000i. Anyone know the model number of the midwoofer they used in the i and what it's resistance was?
Thanks
Rob

found one in the 'parts bin' that also had the rt2000i sticker on it.

So now a new question. Checked the resistance on the mw7200 (i) and the also on the mw7011 (p) and looks like they're close enough you could say they're the same. I know the crossover pts were different on the i and the p versions but anyone have any idea if there was supposed to be much of a sonic difference between the two (drivers independant of interaction with the different crossovers)?

No. I think you would be fine. If it were me I would stick them in there and see how it sounds.

I have a pair of mw7011's that I put in place of the blue ones(I can't remember the part number) and didn't have any problems.

I still have the mw7011's if you need them.

By the way what was the problem with the orginals?

Well, first ... got everything worked out but thanks for the reply.

Situation was kinda complicated. Speakers that first turned me around on Polk was a set of cherry RT2000i's that I got at an outlet sale expecting to flip but when I was testing them next to the NHTs that I loved at the time they so thoroughly blew them away kept the Polk and sold the NHTs.

Picked up another set of them a bit later (black this time) and have used them in various spots throughout the house but no longer have a place for them so might be selling to a friend of a friend. I've known something wasn't quite right with the black ones (had to replace the crossovers when I was using them as mains in one system ..... fried a resistor to the point it cracked open).

The other thing is that I had the MW7011s in the cherry 2000s in my living room system with a set of of some black domed tweeters Polk considers to be a viable replacement for the original 6506. I actually like the look of the black drivers better but since I recently upgraded the living room system wanted to get a better voice match with the cs400i I have there ... plus wanted to check a suspicion I had about the black pair and the fried crossoves before selling to anyone.

Anyway, long story short ..... found out I had the drivers in spare parts to get the cherry pair back to the original config and then checked the midwoofers that had been in the black pair and when some idiot had repaired them had put in something that looked identical to the originals but (can't remember model # off the top of my head) but were half the resistance of the mw7200 (or 7011) which explained the previously toasted crossovers. The new ones are ok because they were used as surrounds til being stored so never got enough juice to toast them again.

So ... put the black/gray tweeters and the MW7011s in the black pair and they sound and look great.
