My Trip in the USA

So far its been great, as Ive only been back in the USA 3 days. Now keep in mind I've been living/working in Japan for the past 4.5 yrs. I can truly say I've missed the place. Great food everywhere, not that Japan doesnt have good food, but they sure as hell dont Claim Jumpers, or the Quarter Pounder with cheese. I guess its the little things you miss, for example I watched a Geico commercial and almost fell out of the chair laughing. One thing I have to get used to again is the fast pace driving, picked up the rental and was driving all over the road and not even that fast either. Not used to going 80 mph that much over there unless Im on the crotch rocket. I'll be back here about 3 months before heading back, guess its just good to be home.

LMK when you are passing by Charlotte on your way down. We had talked earlier about meeting up for some tunes and suds and if we can pull it off, we'll have an impromptu NC mini-get together so that you can meet some of the local polkies.

There are also some polkies that live close to where your folks live. I might be able to organize another small get-together down there as well.

I'd be interested in hanging out with as many of you guys as I could. Listening to some good tunes, and throwing back a few brews. I will fly into Charlotte around the 28th, so if you can tell me where to be I'd be there, from there Im off to Atlanta. My folks are in Florence/Columbia area so I could do that as well. Just give me the word and tell me what to bring. Wish I had brought some sake or something from Japan as a gift. I could always mail something back I guess. Let me know.

I've always been interested about cultural differences abroad. Can you elaborate any on the differences (big or small) between Japan and the US?

    Yeah... real funny-like.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

There are many cultural differences, some good, some not all that bad. What differences would you like me to elaborate on? I dont mind sharing my experiences with the board. I've been there over 4 yrs, so I've pretty much seen it all, done it all.

but she's sittin', waitin' for you over there...that sucks. well, have fun with the rental, i.e., neutral drops and doughnuts. how are the gas prices in comparison? i'm sure you don't need to drive much over there compared to here in the states.

Gas here is cheaper, over there it equals about 6 bucks a gallon. The yen is stronger than the US dollar now, with our economy being all jacked up. And that sucks. However Cost of Living Allowance went up, so thats a plus. As for rentals, Im in the Hertz Presidential Club since I travel so much, so I get all the fun rentals. Playing with a Cadillac STS this week. Who knows what it will be when I touch Ohio.

Well, I'm finally happy to say that on June 12th, I finally had the opportunity to hang out with Mr. Pooler and what an honor it was to have him hang out out my crib. Seems Sherard may be back in the states come August if I remember correctly and looking forward to meeting his family as well. So, if given the chance guys, catch up with him if you can if he's in your area. The only thing I regret is not having more time to hang with Sherard, maybe next time bro. Think he was pretty pleased to hang out in the basement H/T and game a bit and watch a movie as well. It was pretty cool to sit around while eating dinner and just pick his brain a bit about how Japan is much like the USA, apparently things are much slower paced in Japan though which I would have never imagined. Anyway bro, it was an HONOR to have you by my crib and look forward to your next visit. Have a safe trip back bro.
