FT/FS: Quad of 12AU7 Amperex Holland

I have a quad of Amperex 12AU7's I'd like sell. These Amperex's all are from the Holland Herleen (sp) factory with date codes of <delta>5K3, <delta>8A4, <delta>6H4 and <delta>4J4. All are identical construction. Three of them have no printing left at all and test near new at 91/93, 97/94 and 95/92. The fourth has good printing and has the Bugle Boy logo . I have no test data on this tube but it is presumed to be NOS and looks like it. They all have the shorter gray ladder plates and small halo getters. This is my second go around with Amperex 12AU7's in my amp and although they sound great the RCA's just seem to have better synergy with my system (and ears). Will sell for $60 shipped, which is a great deal if you're familiar with these tubes and is about 25 less than I just paid for them. PayPal only please.

    Very nice! I've got five RCA 12AX7 cleartops in my Fisher X1000, and one **** RCA silver getter. The RCA cleartops in the preamp and phono are just magic. I've got a variety of EL84's and 7189's for power. I think that I like the smooth plate Tele's but the Bugle boys are also very nice. I just bought a matched quad of the new Russian made Mullards. I have yet to give them a roll.

    Too bad you don't have the 12 AX7's, I've got some nice RCA white letter, 1958 vintage

    Well I've got one 12AX7 in my preamp stage but the Holland made Amperex is the best by far there so far. I don't know why they don't quite make it in the 12AU7 slots. If you read Joe's Tube Lore (which I do with a grain of salt), he likes the RCA 12AU7 cleartops too but feels the Amperex take that particular sound 'to the next level', which is why I figured I'd give it another shot. They are really good but the RCA's just seem to add a 3D effect which I really dig.

    Good luck finding the RCA cleartops. I called Andy at VTS, he has one 7025 (12AX7 low noise equivalent). He had one available, wanted $116 for it.:eek:
