"Tribute to Jeff" - a tribute to Jeff Piccaro, session drummer for Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, etc. and drummer for Toto. '21 Drum Salute' is a drum only song.

Just ordered Kodo 25th Anniversary CD. Now that's what drumming is all about.

    Thanks, Erik.

Just got the Kodo CD today and popped it in. Damn!! It's got the deepest bass I've heard in music. Can't listen to it too long at loud levels; otherwise, the visceral impact will turn your brain into instant oatmeal.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

    Here's one for ya

CAB4 by CAB - The most kickass album/CD I have heard from start to finish. Gonna need quick sub to keep up with Bunny/Chambers combo.

    Bunny Brunel - Bass
    Dennis Chambers - Drums
    Patrice Rushin (sp?) - Keys
    Auger - Guitar

I don't know what kind of music you are into, but all of these guys/gals kickass as soloist and sound amazing as a group. I haven't heard Cab or Cab2. The band started as a trio and added a new member with each release.
TV...............Hitachi 42hdS52a plasma (sexy one with the swival)
    Pre/Processor - Emotiva MMC
Seven Ch AMP - Emotiva LPA
    Fronts - Tyler Acoustics 7U's
    Center - Polk LSIC
    Sub - DSWPRO600
    DAC - Music Hall 25.3CD - Marantz cc4001
    Blue Ray - PS3
Speaker cables - Audioquest cv4 dbs

I picked this CD up and I did enjoy listening to it. Sounded a lot like Satriani.

I ordered it as well, so far it hasn't done anything for me. :( I suppose I need to get a real sub. Oh I can't wait  .

Yep. Those RTi12's can't even dream of producing the low bass on this CD. A lot of it goes well below 20 Hz, so you'll need a sub (or two) that can handle it. Quite frankly, my dual 10" subs strain to produce this level of bass.

(Hmmmm.... are bigger subs in my future???)

I have a sub, just a 10" low end one. It cranks out some lows, but its definately lacking when doing a sweep tone. All my speakers are set to cross at 80 hz. I haven't really tried them at full range much.
I'll try the Kodo CD again at a higher volume and turn the sub up a bit.
I am still in bad need of a real sub.

The RTI-12s, at full range with no sub definately can't touch the lows-what a difference there. I would have expected more from the three drivers. That is their purpose right? Some have said a sub is not even needed with a properly driven RTi12-I'm pretty sure I'm driving them right, but in comparison with and w/o a sub=night and day.

Anyway, I put in a Klipsch RW-10d (still also evaluating a ML Dynamo). It's a too small for my room 10" ported sub, but WOW! what a difference, Now I have a better idea of what brain mushing is. This is actually a VERY enjoyable CD.--Still testing though......

Thread resurrection!:p Good, 'cuz I missed it the first time out, and drums are a subject near and dear!

    Vital Tech Tones
    (Self titled)
    http://www.amazon.com/Vital-Tech-Tones-Scott-Henderson/dp/B000007N46/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1218646813&sr=1-1

    Steve Smith (Journey, Vital Information)
    Scott Henderson (Tribal Tech)
Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones)

Watch your woofers on this one boys.....for a fusion disk, it hits hard in the low end!

    Dave Weckl
    (Hard Wired, Heads Up)

Just an outstanding drummer who made his name playing for Chick Corea.

    Billy Cobham
    (Warning)

    Simon Phillips
    (Protocol, Symbiosis)

    Now for something completely different:

    Bozzio/Wackerman-Alternate Duets
(Private Conversations overheard by an invited audience Voume 1)

You want drums? Good, because that's all that's on this cd. Very interesting interaction between two former Frank Zappa drummers, trading off solos, melodic ostanados, and drum conversation.

All of these discs sound great, since drumsets have the broadest frequency range of any other instrument, they make for great demo discs.
