If you were to crossover the VMPS speakers -- you would really eff with the PR tuning. I think that PR is tuned to like 17hz or so...

So crossing it over could effect the clarity of your bass and its overall response.

I doubt the VMPS sub comes close to 17 Hz. Nevertheless, I don't use the VMPS sub for music. For HT, it sounds great so far, although I haven't played around enough with it yet. Regardless, there's a lot of flexibility so I'm sure I can tweak the hell out of it.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

There's no way the PRs in my mains are tuned to 17 Hz. The mains may do 32Hz if they're in a good mood. Your Taylos go as deep as my speakers.

    Oh my goodness!!!!

Just finished playing scenes 5 & 6 of War of the Worlds. It was insane!!!!

A couple pieces of insulation blew out of the port on one of the subs. I was afraid I was gonna blow a woofer or somethin'. The vibration it caused -- I actually thought the whole house was shaking, and maybe it was -- I dunno. It was an obscene amount of bass. In addition, there was more clarity, too. I heard stuff in those scenes I ain't heard before.

I think, however, I'm gonna eventually add one more sub for a 5.4 system. Maybe another DIY or a VMPSer. We'll see.

    Early B,
Wow! I have read a lot of your posts which I find informative, short and to the point. Your last post actually had excitement in it's tone. Good snag on the subs. This is what it's all about IMHO. Working for that sound that can put that excitement in our listening at what ever that magic number is we each have to work with. For me it's not just best bang for the buck per say, but the combination of research/shopping, then the testing after to see if we got it right.
