I am going to wire my house for a central sound system. I would like to be able to run the wires through the walls and have jacks in some of the rooms where I will have one set or muliple sets of speakers in each room. Are there any good books out there that will give me some help with the set up?

I'd call in a Professional.Get the Prewire done. Then if you want to save cash, trim it out yourself.RJ45 ends aren't that easy to terminate.
I could give you a rundown of all the nessary wires you would need to do what you wanna do.And where to run them 2.
