Ok. As BSU stated, it would involve radical changes and considering that you don't know what would be involved, it's best not to go down that road. I think you'd be happy with the RD0194-1 tweeters.

    We know

I'm running 16 sl2000's in 3 pairs of polks and have yet to have one go bad or sound bad. You have had other results which aren't the norm from my experience. That's not to say it can't happen as any tweeter new or old can go bad.

I will continue to share my personal experiences since that is what this forum is all about. The sl2000 tweeters are not crap and they never will be. I've done side by side comparisons with it and the sl3000 and also the rd0194 and the sl2000 is still my favorite.

For the record you choose to put a cap in series with the tweeter to get it to be your all time favorite. Not a very ringing endorsement for the sl2000 since you have to alter it to sound "good" in your applications.

CL we know you love the SL2000 but give it a rest already. The guy wants to try something new because his SL2000's are wrinkled. Get over it please.

I prefer the SL1000 over the SL2000. You don't see me trying to get everyone to join in that bandwagon do you??????? What a pain in the ****!

CL, you are a disgrace to this fine forum. You keep posting the same garbage with no regard to the facts just so you get some attention. That is the sign of a mentally ill person. I hope you get the professional help you so desperately need, but until you do, please stop with all the BS.

    CL,

No comment. Your post has nothing to do with this thread and contains nothing constructive as usual.

CL, face it; you ruined a bunch of SL2000's and they sound like crap. you are not fooling anyone. Your ears don't lie because you can't hear anything beyond 2000 Hz, and can't distinguish between a piano and a violin.

CL... you have to admit..... regardless of how it sounds..... those old, yellowed-dome, often dimpled SL2000 tweeters LOOK LIKE CRAP. That alone is enough reason to upgrade to the RDO's. The black silk ones look much better once you pop off the grills.

I agree with Joe (partly). I know my local blood bank uses SL2000's on people afraid of needles because they can get the blood out through the ears. Still, I like the way my 1C's and 2's sound with SL2000's.

That's not to say they sound better than 194's (don't know, probably worse than 194's). Don't know about SL1000's either but I respect Joe's preference. What I do know is that they sound the way they were designed to sound. I don't and won't alter the innate sonic characteristics of them - and won't recommend others do so.

Sooner or later I'll replace them with their factory-recommended replacements. If and when I don't like those, I'll replace them again.

Isn't this about the time of the year that those pesky little birds return and hijack CAPistrano? :o

Is there anything in particular you like about the 2000's? Smooth, lush, full, rich, airy, detailed, exact, natural sounding??

I'd most certainly use different adjectives.........I live in the real world not my own imaginative world like you.

Those are probably words I would use to describe the Bourbon I'm drinking or the girl I'm with as opposed to the tweeters I'm listening to. In that case, airy would be bad - full, lush, and rich would be good.:D

In all honesty CL, I try not to put too fine a point on it. I've owned a lot of stuff, moved it all around the room, flew to Tweakersville and took the bus back, etc. It was all fun but it could get in the way of just listening to the music.

Some nights it all sounds good, some nights not so much. The best music I remember listening to was on a front porch in the middle-to-late 70's with a joint in one hand, glass of Bourbon in the other, and good friends all around. I'm pretty sure it didn't have anything to do with tweeters or cables.

Don't get me wrong, bad equipment always sounds bad. Compressed and/or Hip-Hop music(?) always sounds bad. Buying new/old stuff, playing around with it, and discussing / arguing about it is fun. Just getting lost in the music is the most fun. I can't do that if I'm obsessing about caps and tweeters.
