Sent me this over on AVS and asked me to pass it on...
Ron,

I changed my e-mail address on club polk and it appeared that it would send me an e-mail. I never recieved it though and can no longer send/recieve/check PM's on Club Polk nor post in any forum. Can you PM justin, Doro or Russ for me and see if anything can be done about it?

(under my name it now reads "registered user" rather than whatever it read before.....)

Thanks for any help you can give,

Michael

Had the same problem and Doro was helping me look into it. Never got it resolved on CP's end. I went back and changed my e-mail contact info to my old address and it works again. I was out of the loop from Tuesday-Saturday.

Since my old address is currently forwarding to my new address it's all good. Try that McLoki. I tried unsuccessfully to contact Justin, Doro sent him an e-mail on my behalf as well as a phone call and I got nothing from him. I'm sure he's busy. If you get it figured out let me know because eventually my new ISP will stop forwarding my old e-mail and I'll have to change it.

P.s. I take it your moving from Insight to Comcast just like the whole state of Illinois including myself. I'd send you an e-mail Michael but it appears I can only receive e-mail not send it at this time. Comcast is COMCASTIC as they say in there cheery commercials

I'm pretty sure it's ISP related as Justin never found anything otherwise. I replied to him thru Ron earlier.

Do you live near one another? You went Comcast also right?

Yes the whole state of Illinois is Comcast now. The problem comes since Comcast bought out Insight in our area. I never did get it figured out. I just went back to using my Insight e-mail since they are forwarding. Eventually I'm going to have to get it figured out because they won't forward forever.

This seems to be a common problem with Comcast as others have reported the same issue.

Even moreso to suspect the ISP. I'll post anything that I find out.

I've been having a problem receiving (none at all) instant email notification for months months. It seems according to Justin a Comcast problem. Others with Comcast accounts are experiencing the same problem.

WooHoo..... Thanks Heiney, I was beginning to think I just pissed someone off. Changed my e-mail back to my insight account and all is good for now. Maybe this is a good time to sign up for G-Mail. At least I wont have to keep messing around with comcast.

    Now I not only get a higher cable bill, but e-mail that doesn't work - it's ComCastic....

Ok - good to go until the comcast thing gets sorted out. Set up a new e-mail account on g-mail. Then I set up a filter on g-mail to forward all e-mail to my comcast account.

Works great. Pointed club polk to my g-mail account and was able to check the e-mail and aswer it from comcast. At least I don't have to worry about them turning off my insightbb account now.....

Good idea! Are you having any other issues with Comcast? Like I stated earlier up to Friday afternoon I could receive and send e-mail at my new Comcast address (except CP related stuff). Now I can't send e-mail. None of my Outlook settings have been changed since I set up my Comcast e-mail, but poof not able to send e-mail to anyone.

    It's Comcastic!

Just switched it over yesterday and so far it appears to be working.

If I point everything at my new g-mail account and comcast becomes more of a pain in the butt, I will just use g-mail as my main e-mail. (to send and recieve) and use my comcast account just to sign up for free stuff that will end up sending me spam....

I hate to be the one to say this, but google scans your email and gives you ads based on the content of your email......just a thought about when deciding which service you want to receive all your crap mail. :D

I know i send all my spam mail sign ups to gmail.

Most ISP's allow you to create up to 10 e-mail accounts. I always have a couple alternate e-mail accounts which I forward to my main account when I sign up for things on line, etc. If the spam get too heavy from one of the alt. accounts I just go in and suspend the alt. e-mail.

It's worked well for me for years. My problem may be on my end. I was burning a DVD on Friday and locked up my computer. I had to do a hard boot and I ended up loosing all my FireFox bookmarks. After that is when I had trouble sending e-mail. I HATE computers. I'm still trying to figure out how to restore all my bookmarks

My CP issue started on Tuesday when I tried to update my e-mail to the Comcast e-mail.

After my switch to comcast email, everything email-wise seems to working OK, so far! I've always used a separate hotmail account to have my Club Polk notifications, etc. sent to, so I didn't have to change anything with Club Polk when switching to comcast. Insight was blackholed on many ISP's as a source of spam, so now I can at least send emails to people I couldn't get an email to before!

H9 - make sure you change your outgoing email server to the right one! I screwed that up originally and couldn't send emails from Outlook.

I just did a system restore as well as importing my bookmarks from a back-up file. I'm able to send e-mail again and I have all my bookmarks back, WHEW. I'm positive the problem was on my end when my computer locked up while burning a DVD.
