1. Set 10'' away from a 92'' screen and have the surround mounted about 2'' above ear level, from what I've read this is the appropriate height for surrounds.
2. Set 11'' feet away from a 92'' screen, but have the surrounds mounted about 4'' above ear level.
What would the best compromise, set alittle closer to the screen and have the surrounds mounted properly(from what I've read), or set alittle further back and have the surround mounted 4'' above ear level
Still looking for some input on this guys.Casey

Hello
Well I'm currently in the process of finishing off the basement over in our original farm house. We're going to try and get moved over there this year from our trailer house.
The room where our home theater is going to be is 12' x 18' with a couple of jogs in the room. Half the room is going to be a library area and the other half the home theater. The height of the room is 7' and am using this for the ceiling:

The walls are sheet rocked and will be using a knock down texture on them with wainscoating around the perimeter, which will all be painted. The doors are raised panel and will be painted also. I put a ton of lights down there and its very bright and they are all on two dimmers also.
I ran all the wiring in the walls and put in a wall with an opening thats behind the entertainment center so I can get at all the cables easily and theres pently of plug ins and it will have its own dedicated breaker.
The TV: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Dg3ANDjRyjU/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?I=15840V3000&omnews=7139999
will be mounted on the wall and the rear speakers will be mounted on shelves about 6' from the floor. I have a "divider" bookcase that I had built to set our rear center on so that will be incorporated into the room too. We will wind up setting around 8 to 9 feet away from the TV and the rear speakers will be pretty much directly on each side of where we're sitting....
The carpeting is going to be a sculpted look with a pad, it reminds me of a carpet that use to be in my grandparents house, its pretty cool looking actually.....I'll try and find a link to that too.
The room looked big to start with but after you start putting in a Entertainment center, a couch, a couple of theater seats, book cases, a pellet stove, a reading table, a library table, my original Pioneer amp, turntable, and speakers, it gets small very fast.
So with that size room definately keep it simple.....Testing

I'm assuming you meant 2 and 4 feet, not inches. Both are good heights so whichever distance you prefer. I like my screen big so for 92" I definitely would go with 10' but it's my personal preference, you have yours. -
