Optimal Height for surrounds??
Ok, I have an FXi A4 as my surrounds...Im trying to figure out if there are speaker stands available for them, if not, i found some glass corner end tables that have a 31 inch height...they have glass shelves too..
so im curious on a couple things...
Optimal Height for surrounds?
Would the glass shelves have an impact on the sound?
Are their speaker stands available?
If i could mount them on the wall i would, but i cant
Thanks for your help.

Look at THX and Dolby's sites.
Height for Surrounds are generally said to be optimal at about 2' above your listening ear position. 5' to 7' from the floor is about the range. Mine are 6" to the floor to the bottom of the speaker. That's just high enough for most people to not bang their head.
If I had a dedicated HT room, I'd build it so I could put them slightly lower, like 5', assuming the listening height was the same.- Onkyo TX-SR805

Generally it is recommended that the surrounds be atleast 12" above ear level when seated.Testing

72 inches works in most cases. That measurement is to the tweeter. It's the most directional sound in a surround speaker. But the 3 foot rule above seating listening works great.
Surrounds work best if they can be placed on the sides of the listening area. they work in the back of the room but I always feel like there is to much space in the movement of sounds. If you play a good demo, and try both locations, you will hear what I'm talking about.Dan
