Speaker/receiver setup and test tone

So,

I received my 4 Audio 50's in yesterday and just finished running the wiring and trying to make sure everything is setup correctly.

However, when I run the test tone through the speakers not all have the same level and I would appreciate any thoughts on why this might be happening.

Receiver: Sony STR-DE695
FL, FR, SR, SL: Polk Audio 50
C: Bose VCS-10
SB: JBL N-Center
SW: Polk PSW125
Wiring: Monster (crap cable for sure). Can't rember size, but I see an 11 on it, but I dunno if that's right

Receiver Setup
SW: Yes
F,C and Surround: Small
Speaker Distance: 5 for all

I'll use a value of 3 to represent the loudest test tone from the speakers, excluding the SW.

FL: 1
C: 2.5 - 3
FR: 1
SR: 3
SB: 2 - 2.5
SL: 1

Any thoughts on why my SR has the loudest test tone?

I'm not thinking it's the receiver since it was working fine with my old speakers, but it could be I guess.

If I plug the FR speaker into the SR terminal it will play at a level of 3 and the same goes for the SL. This makes me think it's the receiver, but I hope not because I don't want to buy something else.

If anyone can think of anything I forgot to mention or try, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
CT

I don't know if this helps since you said your old speakers were fine...

Might be my imagination, but I think my old sony receiver had level adjustments (deep in the set-up) for every speaker?

A few other questions to consider:
Is the volume level for each speaker just what you are hearing? - could be room acoustics.
Is each of the speakers truly exactly the same distance from the listening position? - might be off by a bit.
Are your speakers in phase (wires connected the same way on receiver and speakers)? - check to make sure the same wire is connected to the red jack on receiver and speaker and the same for black...on all speakers.

I would probably put all the speakers right next to each other in a line or semi circle around you, with all the same type and length of cable, and do your test again-that might help rule out wire length and room acoustic issues.

Assuming moving the speakers would be a hassle, You could also swap, lets say, SL with SR to see if the levels swap-if so then the issue is with the reciever...

As Cambir said--check your reciever, make sure all the levels are set even to start with. You may have adjusted them previously to compensate for room acoustics in the past??
