I am sure they stayed true to the novel and it ended just as it should have, it was just unexpected after watching the hero is so many movies come out of an impossible situation to beat the bad guy. The bad guy won, plain and simple, and I wasn't prepared or expecting it. Cant wait to see it again. Just joking about the part 2, there will be no part 2.

    Spoilers ahead

Overall, I felt it was a really good movie. A lot of suspence, great acting, etc. I thought the ending worked fine, I like the movies wherethe bad guy win:p. There is just one part of this film I didn't quite get. Why did I go through 3 quarters of the movie following this man being hunted by a complete psychopath just to have him killed off by someone else? Not only that, but all we get is a cut from him talking to some lady next to a pool to him dead on the ground in the motel room. We went through all that suspence watching him doing whatever he can to survive, and we don't even see the sequence where he finally perishes. You had to feel pity for others who you watch die right in front of you, then the person you feel the most compassion for dies off-screen. Sorry for my rambling, I just felt this could have been a much more emotional (and depressing) scene.

Anyways, I also like the absence of music, and would like to see it done more often nowadays.

    SPOILER

There will not be a part 2. The movie ended exactly as it should have. The overall point of the movie (and the book) is that sometimes the bad guy does get away from the good guy, if only for a moment. There were a lot of other things thrown in there, like time passing those cops by to the point where they were actually naive. The movie was also unconventional in that it killed off the main character.

If you think about it a while and let it sink in, the ending makes perfect sense. The only difference is that the main character isn't getting out of an ambulance with his wife wrapped up in a blanket hugging his kids after beating the bad guy in an impossible fight.

that is the way I see it too.

......cool from the safe comfort of you couch.
Ever had someone point a gun at you? Not so cool.

    WTF is wrong with people.

There is way too much pseudo testosterone floating around in here.
I'm with the ladies on this one. This movie sucked.
The improbability factors alone knocks it down a couple notches.

    ***SPOILER***

A guy finds 2mil cash, in the middle of a blood bath, then later he decides to go back and bring a dying Mexican some water.
    Sure he is.
Rather than grabbing his wife and the money and getting the hell on to his next new life he somehow decides he has to take a low budget road trip on his own.
    Uh huh.
A professional "hitman" that is going to drag a compressed gas tank around with him? And later somehow magically transforms it from a cattle ram, to a highly accurate firearm that he shoots from the waist without sights.
    Right.
Woody sees the money but makes no effort to grab it?
Woody who knows what a psycho this guy is, is going to calmly head up to his room for a little chat.
    yeah sure.

Tommy Lee Jones character is enjoyable, and pretty much sums it up.
Hopefully the next world will be better.

Good acting does not necessarily make a good movie.

That Mexican killer is really COOL! He's like the ultimate cold blooded killer.

I think you need to watch the movie again. You made some wrong observations.

The killer did not magically convert any weapons. He had multiple weapons, depending on the situation. He had a shotgun with a silencer, that's what he shot from the waist; He had the captive bolt (compressed air) weapon which was only used to kill one person that we know otherwise, it was used for ease of breaking locks quickly; He had an assault rifle which he used when he was shooting at Moss from a distance; there were probably others.

Yes, Woody knew Chigure was a killer, but what choice did he have? He was caught at gunpoint. He had no choice but to go up the stairs and sit down with Chigure. If he tried to pull a weapon, he knew he would be dead, otherwise, he might be able to reason with Chigure and make an offer to bring him the money.

When Woody saw the money, he couldn't get to it from the road because of the fences and the nearby border guards.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Without the awkward mistakes, there wouldn't have been a movie. Don't do too much analysis. Yes a lot of the things don't make sense.

Bringing water to a dying criminal, bright idea.

Shooting an old man in the middle of the desert with a silent cattle hammer. Why not use a Glock, who'd hear it.

And Harrelson, a guy that's an expert bounty hunter has someone get the drop on him? Yeah right.

In 1980 you could have bought an airline ticket anywhere in the US without substantial ID. The only screening they had was metal detectors. Instead of taking a dying criminal some water, I would have been in Montana.

How much range could that transmitter have had?

Never let facts get in the way of a good story. Fun movie, but I've seen many that were better.

Two opinions on this movie. 1) I really did not enjoy it. 2) My experience doesn't make it a bad movie.

When 94% of critics and 86% of regular viewers see a movie and think it's great and you think it sucks, it's time to really look inward and think about whether your opinion is really valid.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

All that is showing is that 94% of critics and 86% of regular people have not a clue in the world what they are takling about.

Bagged.. sorry i don't know your first name. but please list a couple of movies you think are good.. and make them recent ones.. not like Star Wars or any that we know everyone likes.

Sometimes films are good because they are different than your oh so typical Hollywood movie. No Country has it all.. except a soundtrack ;)

it has drama, suspense, thrill seeking, blood and guts.. decent acting... a bad **** mo fo bad guy. It's a decent enough movie... I had to see it more than just once. I even bought the DVD. :)

How many movies have you seen where the bad guy kills people the way he did? no gun, no knife.. yet his kills were 100% effective.

I understand. not everyone is going to like it.

He had a gun, a shotgun.

It was ok, not worthy of the award it won, but that's Liberalwood for you.
