Dynaudio Confidence C2
I spent a couple hours the other day listening to the C1's with a REL Studio sub and the C2's by themselves. I must say I was quite impressed. I can't write a fluffy, adjective filled review because I'm not that gifted. But I do like to read them!! I'll just say the sound in both sets was stunning to me.
I "think" my Paradigm S8's are too large for my 11x23 room with a large opening along the side left wall.
I can go either way with the C1/REL combo or C2 by themselves they sounded that good.
If any of you folks have an opinion on the speakers or the room, please chime in .
Thanks, Gordo

Gordo,
Yes, the Confidence line is quite impressive. I have lived with the C1's and two SVS PC-Ultra's for the past two years. Can't say that I would consider 'upgrading' the speakers any time soon. I have not spent any time with the C2's but have with the C4's. For my room (15 x 13), the C1's were the way to go.
With either, you can't go wrong. Personally, I prefer the <insert your favorite speaker> with sub route. The C1's and sub should be quite able to fill the room. If you get the C1's, get the matching stand and fill with shot.
What components comprise the remainder of your system? These speakers are very neutral, dynamic and will reveal everything before them. Make sure everything is up to the task.
PS. There are a pair of black C1's on Agon now.
EDIT

Love em both just from demo, and have been lurking on the Gon for a set. Haven't bought a used pair only because I'm sure it would lead to a complete system change. What amp are you using ^^ to drive the C1's, and are there a couple that are known to work well?-Ignorance is strength -

I've been looking at doing the same thing ala: Contour 5.6, 3.4, Conf C1, C2. It's a bit of coin for just the speaks, and I've heard others in addition to JM1 say that they needed to upgrade elsewhere especially with the Confidence line. Not quite so much with the Contour line. The source and preamp would be critical, and you would need a brutish yet refined amp as well.
I'm swapping out amps with the LSi9s, to get the most of them. Once I'm at a level where I think I can get away with it, a pair of Danes is coming.
Opinion: For that sized room go C1, with sub. Any savings you could change out the Mc's if they don't want to play nice. The monitors should give you more stage in a smaller room than the C2 or the S8.-Ignorance is strength - -
I have not heard the C1's and I don't have their specs, but my Contour 1.3's don't really need a sub in my room (10x13); they hit low and hard._________________________________________________

I am using a Simaudio W-3 amp with the speakers. At various shows for the past number of years, Simaudio has been paired many times with Dynaudio. There have been several where this match has been noted to be one of the best of the show. I listened to the C4’s with Ayre components. This is another excellent match.
If you are interested in what I have competed thus far in my audio adventures, here are some ramblings on the system and room.
System with TT.
Room Tube traps and Center diffusion.
If you have not read these, here are a couple of reviews of the C1’s:

There is also a review of the C2:

Some user reviews on Dyn speakers can be found on AudioAsylum or Audiogon under the review section.
There have been some recent threads on adding a sub to a two channel system. Here a couple of posts I made.

I was fortunate enough to have similiar Mcintosh gear running the C1 and C2 at the dealer. Same preamp and cd player that I own. One difference was they had 500 watt mono's pushing vice my single 352. The other was in cabling, which in itself is a topic that's been beat to death!!
The mono's did seem to grab and hold on to the bottom which is what they are noted for. My 352 is no slouch, but I'm unsure if it's got what it takes. My dealer is top notch, so this week I'm going to take my amp in and put it into the loop.
I enjoy the Mcintosh "house" sound so I know I won't be changing out of the line. Been there way to many times!!
I have some hearing damage which causes me to pay close attention to the tweeters. Some tweeters make extended listening to jazz or brass make me want to wince.
My S8's, while a very nice speaker to me, are beginning to irritate my ears. The Confidence line is very easy on my ears. The Dali Euphoria and the B&W 804 (I think) seemed harsh to me. Not slamming any line of speaker here, just relating what my ears hear.
I'm leaning toward the C1/REL combination because I believe my amp has enough umph to hold on to them better then the C2's. I think I'll know for sure this week.

The Rel Studio is probably one of the most musical subs made. It has a uncanny ability to fool you into thinking all bass is coming from the speakers themselves when properly setup. I have Installed many rel subs and have had this type of experience.
The C line from Dynaudio is breath taking. The c4's one day will be mine. I settled on the Audience 82's as they perform double duty theater and 2 channel. I had them for a few years now and have no desire to upgrade them. If one day I do, it will be higher end Dynaudio. I have no desire to own anything else.
Amp and pre are cridical for C series speakers. I installed them with Krell , Mark Levinston , Audio research , Conrad Johnson , Rotel , Proceed , and Integra Research. I perfer Krell and Mark Levinston. My favorite of all time 2 channel system is still the C4's with Krell Mono's wired with Transparent.
Good luck with your Dynaudio speakers, then welcome to the family.Dan

While I have never been captivated by the Mac sonic characteristics, this amp should be fine with either of the Danes. When you change the system to include your amp, you will need to adjust the monitor/sub output balance.

I don't think I've heard a Dynaudio that I didn't like.

Which line is considered sonically better, the Audience or the Confidence?
Does anyone else think the Confidence bookshelf's partially protruded facade looks a bit strange? -

I would suspect that the narrow room would lend itself well to a bookshelf/sub combo. Having owned Dynaudio 52SE's for some time now I can say that I understand the hype. I use a Krell integrated and the combo is pleasing. When I get my basement finished in the fall I will likely move my system to the basement where I will investigate an upgrade to the Dynaudio 1.4 or perhaps C-1's.

I can go a bit on the "hype" of Dynaudio.
Dynaudio have a truth to them. They have an amazing ability to replay the music allowing you to enjoy it other then the speakers. They also are very flexible in the ability to play all kinds of music. There apearance isn't as nice as B&W or other cooler looking speakers but they are built for music first.Dan

Well, I drug my amp to the dealer and listened to both the C1 and C2. I liked what I heard with my amp. Still not convinced to go with the the Danes, I drove a couple miles to a dealer who had some Martin Logan Vantages set with equivelant gear.
I was stunned. I had no tweeter ring in my ears after an extended listening session. I knew I found my new speakers. I bought the Vantages, did not go near the Summit's because they were not in the budget this year!
They have been burning in for the past 3 days and I am very happy with the new purchase. It surprised me that the ML's won me over so easily, since I thought the Danes were a hands down purchase.

Martin Logan speakers are fantastic at all levels. There subs , inwalls , everything they make is top notch. I can't see anyone going wrong with them.
Good luck with them.

How are the Martin Logans different from the Maggies?
-
The ML's are a "hybrid". There are regular cone speakers blended in the cabinet to provide the bottom end.
I could not find a place to listen to Maggies. And the panels seemed to be a little too large for my taste.

Just do not hook up a Krell amp to your ML's, it is not good combo imho.
