Non working tweeter in Monitor 7 series 2

I have a pair of M7 II's circa 1991. The tweeter on one of them is not working at all. There is no fuse on the back of the unit. The midrange and woofer seem OK. Thinking the tweeter was blown, I ordered a new one from polk. The original tweeter is an SL 2500. I read Average Guy's post from 3-7. He had a similar problem with an older M7 but a new fuse fixed the problem. Can anyone offer some help? Thanks.

Move the tweeter from the working speaker to the non-working speaker. That speaker only has one woofer per cabinet, as the other diaphragm is a passive radiator.

You already ordered a new tweeter so I'm not sure what else you need help on.

In another posting, I noted that they had talked about shorting the polyswitches. I am not sure how to identify them, but I am in the process of switching tweeters now.

I have a bad tweeter in one of my M7's. It it OK to replace just the bad one, or is it advisable to replace both?

The are located on the x-over, look like flat, mustard colored discs. You should replace them also as they are FREE from Polk Audio.

    Welcome to Club Polk.
You definitely want to have matched tweeters. Positively. Absolutely. Without a doubt
    Ben
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

Thank you all for your help. Sorry about the multiple posts. Was'nt quite sure how this worked. Is the RD0198 replacement tweeter sonically equivalent or close enough to the original SL2500 to only purchase one, or do you recommend replacing both?

If you are going to replace the tweeters with the rdo's,, replace both IMHO.

That's how a retarded prostitute with severe speech difficulties let's you know she is a call girl.

Try sticking your tongue out, then saying a kind of slowed down "I'm Ho" and you'll get a good approximation.

    Hello Polk Fans,
I have a pair of Monitor 7 Series 2 and in my opinion the SL-2500 tweeter sucks (Big One) they can't handle the high output that most of us vintage audio nuts dare to put into these wimpy speakers, BUT! I replaced the SL-2500 tweeters with a pair of SL-2000 Silver Coil Dome Tweets from a pair of Monitor 5jrs and with crossover upgrades (Can Be Found On eBay) they are practically blow-proof.....Hope This Helps : )
