Hi,
I own a lovely pair of rt1000i floorstanding loudspeakers with built-in powered "subs". The sub amps are both broken. I'm ok with that since I have a real sub. The midrange woofer is broken on one tower. Needless to say, I'm not ok with that. I pulled it out and connected it directly to my amp, and no sound comes out. If I push on the cone, I can feel some resistance coming from inside the driver, as though something inside is rubbing together. However, can't seem to figure out how to open the driver up. Does anyone have any insight, or do I just have to replace the whole thing?

Alternatively, could I replace the midrange woofer with the "sub" woofer since I'm not using the subs? Both cones are the same size and I read somewhere that the drivers are identical. The midwoofer is marked mw7200 and the subwoofer is marked mw7201.

Thanks,
Ben

    Hello,
While similar it is not a good idea to use the internal MW7201 in place of the external MW7200. Each was designed for a specific application and would probably not allow the speaker to sound as it should. We have the MW7200 and the Club Polk price is $60.00 and may be ordered from us at 1-800-377-7655, mention your Club polk membership when ordering.
    Regards, Ken
