Click on to the above link. Read it before you post. If you are lazy, read the topics and the first sentences thereof. Then post. Really, try it.

    Okay, gotcha.

    ...... lesseee what we have.

    “Table of Contents” ….

    Chapter 1. “Conversation”

    Let’s see:

“One of the first rules for a guide in polite conversation is to avoid political or religious discussions in general society”.

Dang …. I’m already shafted. Let’s hope the next chapter is better.

    Chapter 2. “Politeness”

Okay, what do we have ?

“Real politeness is the outward expression of the most generous impulses of the heart”.

Huh ? Oh, I get it …. “Impulses” ! So if I think it, than I should say it, write it, or post it without reflecting on it !

Okay, that’s what I usually do, so we’re good to go on to the next chapter.

    Chapter 3. “Table Etiquette”

Well, that doesn’t really apply. Maybe in the next book they’ll have something on “Drive-Thru Etiquette”. Next chapter.

Chapter 4. “Etiquette in the Street”

    What do we have ?

"Be careful about your dress. You can never know whom you may meet”

Hey ! I don’t wear dresses ! What kind of …… next chapter, please !

    Chapter 5. “Etiquette for Calling”

Yeah, yeah, I know all this stuff already.

You pull up to the curb, let her approach the car, and let her mention money and prices first. That way they can’t bust you for solicitation.
Learned that in the Navy, along with most of my other manners.
    Next chapter, then !

Chapter 6. “Etiquette for the Ball Room”

Oh oh. That sounds pornographic. I’m not even going to look !!

    Chapter 7. “Dress”

We’ve already established that I don’t wear one, thank you.
Not that that’s a bad thing, but ….. I can skip this chapter.

    Chapter 8. “Manly Exercises”

That sounds a little pornographic, too. I better skip that, also..

    Chapter 9. “Traveling”

Never cared much for the NBA, and it doesn’t matter anymore since Michael Jordan retired, so …. I can skip this one, too.

    Chapter 10. “Etiquette in Church”

Well …. that problem has already been solved, so on to the next chapter.

Chapter 11. “One Hundred Hints for Gentlemanly Deportment”

Wow ! That sounds kind of ****. I better skip that !

    Chapter 12. “Parties”

I don’t care if it’s about Democrats or Republican, I’m not getting drawn
into that swamp ! On to the next chapter.

    Chapter 13. “Courtesy at Home”

If by “Courtesy” they mean “Survival of the Fittest”, I’m leading the pack at
this point in time, so ….. I’m good to go ! Next chapter, please.

    Chapter 14. “True Courtesy”

I think that’s the sequel to “True Lies”, which I never much cared for, so I’m
just going to go on to the next chapter.

    Chapter 15. “Letter Writers”

Don’t write ‘em, so …. next chapter.

    Chapter 16. “Wedding Etiquette”

Dammed if I’m getting married again, so ….. next chapter !

Chapter 17. “Etiquette for Places of Amusement”

What I do in the privacy of my own bathroom is none of anyone’s business,
    so …. next chapter.

    Chapter 18. “Miscellaneous”

“Miscellaneous” ? This chapter can’t be too important, then, so ……..

    Hey ! I’m done already !!

    That certainly didn’t take long.

I shall extend my pinkie, like a true gentleman, as I hit the "Submit Reply"
and say, "Gutten Abend, mon freres et mademoiselles, hasta la vista !"

Dam .... that sounded very continental. Guess that book worked !

And ..... having said all that ( :o ), I would definitely like to say that this place would definitely not be the same if either of the two ladies that post on here regularly (Darla and Cathy) decided to take a hike because you guys ..
....okay US guys didn't pay heed to the discomfort caused by some of OUR posts.

I'll even go so far as to THINK about what I am about to post before I submit it.

    ...... most of the time.

    ....... as a general rule.

    ....... sometimes.

    ....... occasionally.

Seriously, you guys ....uhm ..... gals ..... (aw, *#%#****# ! ) .... ladies would be missed.

P.S. I still get to make remarks about "sammiches", though. :o

yeah, just read through the scarlett thread. many lol's on my end. but i can see how it did become degrading. such is to be expected, though. this is your average water cooler talk for most chaps. i know some christ-like men will chime in and claim otherwise, but they are just better than me i guess. though i did not post in that particular thread, sorry for offending any females in my time. i love you all.

this forum is a boys club for the most part.. if you fit in you're fine and accepted by the 10 to 15 people who post in here on a regular basis. If you're a lady.. then of course you're very much in the minority.

I think the women here have been good sports for hanging with the boys.. but what may seem like good fun "man" humor can be demeaning to other people.. esp women.

This forum gets away with more than a lot of other forums do. Some other mainstream forums your **** would have been out on the first or second offense.. no if's and's or butts.

I didn't click or read any of the Scarlett J thread, it didn't interest me.. but you gotta understand that written words (even if Jesse doesn't think so) have stronger lasting affects than you know.

Darla, if you feel that it's time for you to move on and find another place.. then I wish you all the best. It was fun in here, and we all had some good laughs, and you shared some important things that were going on in your life over the past couple years. I wish you the best of luck..and we'll miss you.

I am a member of many forums and by far this is the most tame. So far I think there are alot of great people that post here, with great opinions. Sometimes if people post comments that offended others that is just part of their personality, and should just be ignored if your offended. We don't have to read every post, it's up to you which threads you open.

Mr. Big, That was a funny post AND a cat picture. You never disappoint.

I don't want to leave fellas (and 1 lady - WTH is she?). Like I said, I love CP. I even want to go to PolkFest ( now that I have ditched crazy, jealous psycho baggage).

And yes, I can choose what threads to open but the Scarlett thread seemed like it would be innocuous enough. If it were entitled 'Scarlett Should Give Up The Pink and Give Me a BJ' I bet I would have left it alone.

I am just asking for posters to be a bit more respectful. That's all.

Comments like those in the Scarlett thread and very juvenile and unnecessary. I stopped reading after the first "poor" taste comment not because I'm a prude (far from it) but because it served no purpose to keep reading.

I certainly have participated in that type of behavior but it's usually with my buddies out at the bar or on the golf course away from those that might potentially be offended.

Locker room talk has no place here on an audio forum. Atleast if you are going to act like that go about it in more sophisticated manner. Sheesh, that talk was middle school 101.

I dont know. I read the thread being discussed, and while I did see a little under the collar humor I didnt see enough to get upset over, personally.

This is my opinion ofcourse, but if what is said on these boards really offends anyone I suggest not even having internet service, because this board if definatley the most pc board I have seen in a long, long while.

Again not trying to be offensive Wingnut, I just dont see how reading that thread could be so bad. If anything this board is more tame now than it has been, ever. Then again im part of the Stern/Diceman generation so maybe I have a bit more tolerence. But hey that whole opinion thing ya know.

Great post Darla, and I agree 100%. I'm glad I didn't pay any attention to either one of those threads having a good idea what they would turn into.

Brett, as usual you have hit the nail on the head, with a totally accurate assessment.

It's a shame that some on here cannot/chose not to understand that what they say in here on this board will be taken as a reflection of how they are out in the real world.

I don't believe in Jeckll & Hyde, I believe that in this case, what you READ is what you will get out in person. In which case, some people are going to be avoided like the plague if they attend PF.

Darla, speaking of PF, I would love it if you would come up for it. I will be there with my brother & I would love to meet you & introduce you to Mark as well.

And I can assure you Darla, my brother is a perfect gentleman. He treats every woman including me, like a lady!

I remember when my grandfather passed and I was walking with my father in my grandparent's neighborhood in Milwaukee, one of the neighbors came up and said to me "We will miss him, he was always such a gentleman." That stuck with me and I always thought a guy could do much worse than be remembered by his casual acquaintances as a gentleman.

When I first got into chat channels and forums (and I have been moderator and sysadmin), I found myself posting things that I would never have said in person under the "power" of anonymity and the viewpoint that it was all just words and didn't really mean anything, but the fact is that words do have power and the rationalization that it's the internet shouldn't be used as an excuse for boorish behavior.

Most everything here is offered in good fun and taken that way, but there are lines of common decency that ppl cross. It may be a thin line, and somewhat subjective, but it is not invisible.

Awesome post. That right there sums it all up as succinctly yet powerfully as could be done.

No one ever confused me for being either one.

The point is that any time someone speaks up and says they're offended, people piss and moan about PC this and PC that. The issue with TBT (at least for me) wasn't that it and the Joys thread got shut down, but the manner in which the people went about it.

It's a different forum now, true..........either learn to love it, or choose not to and move on. I've opted to participate a lot less than I used to because it's not as fun, but you don't see me pissing and moaning about PC being the root of all the evil here.......

gonna break this down in the simplest components I can think of.....

51000 people + one forum = someone's gonna say something you don't like. granted, a level of decorum from a community standpoint can and will be maintained by the group whole, but the above still holds true, how many different cultures, races, colors, creeds, religions do we have on this site alone?........someone is going to say/act out of form in the eyes of another

and don't think for a minute I'm saying you cant call someone out on it. I just think leaving the board because a few act in a way one doesn't like is not what I would call prudent.

I believe Cathy mentioned staying out of a topic or 2 knowing they are not going to go in a direction you like, hell, I do the same thing.

usually when a big line is crossed, a person will get d***slapped for it. but some people are going to be a little uncouth in certain situations and discusions. Like I said, call em out, thts fine. but your going to leave the board for it? cmon Darla, your better than that ;)

I have noticed your absence, and I do miss your imput.

I believe that this forum can be fun, and still be a decent, respectful, place to be where we have fun & continue to learn & educate each other & newbies about the wonderful world of audio.

All it will take is for everyone to remember to think twice before they speak once, & to remember how to utilize good manners. And NOT **** about having to use them. If they feel the need to do that, then maybe they need to rethink if they actually should be here at all.

It's a different forum now, true..........either learn to love it, or choose not to and move on. I've opted to participate a lot less than I used to because it's not as fun, but you don't see me pissing and moaning about PC being the root of all the evil here.......

What a day! I agree with everything you said above, especially the part about it not being as fun.

I do however believe that PC is the root of some evil not all but some.

BAck on topic I just now got a chance to read the thread where Darla found remarks offensive and I agree. However, Darla, you always have been a good sport and a really fun member here. I would dearly hate to see you leave because of something like this.
