To me, IMO, 1 sub stacked is ok, and will sound ok. But the 3rd one stacked, your getting higher up in the room. That 3rd sub is about midway up the wall. Reflection is not good. It might sound good right there but, there are placements that sound better. I have tested multiple subs, 1 on top of the other. The higher you put them the less output they will have. Remember that these subs are down fireing subs. They were built to have a flat surface, of more than 2' x 2' to reflect off of.

I just cant see that config sounding better than all on floor.

But thats just my opinion. Its your room.

    It does look pretty cool...
    Monitor 7b's front
    Monitor 4's surround
Frankinpolk Center (2 mw6503's with peerless tweeter)
    M10's back surround
    Hafler-200 driving patio Daytons
    Tempest-X 15" DIY sub w/ Rythmik 350A plate amp
Dayton 12" DVC w/ Rythmik 350a plate amp
    Harman/Kardon AVR-635
    Oppo 981hd
    Denon upconvert DVD player
    Jennings Research (vintage and rare)
    Mit RPTV WS-55513
    Tosh HD-XA1
    B&K AV5000

    Dont BAN me Bro!!!!

Ironically, the HSU VTF is the more expensive sub of the bunch for me. I need to order it from USA..

I would like to try it but, I think I will go with polk dsw 600. I dont know wich is best between the 500 and 600 tho..

Polkseller.... I actually had both the dsw 500 and 600 and neither satisfied me! I have had the VTF 3- MK3 for just 2 days now but have been totally blown away. Well worth the cash!!;)

Neither reached that low.. also seemed to hear a lot of air or breathing from the 2. At times the bass sounded very muddy and not very precise!

I dont know Slowcar, I dig the 3 subs stacked. However I think dual SVS PB12s could take em, surely dual PB12/PLus2s. If youre wanting sick bass, dual Epik Conquest or SVS PB13 Ultras.

the 3 sub stack looks real cool with the blue led and lights dimmed

i really dont know how much more the svs will do...the 3 600s is coupling to the room very well...not only moving the air, but also setting the DLP screen in motion at -15dB on the avr. i'm eager to get my hands on the sms-1...and see what damage it will do :D

not sure about your statements. It's normal for a quality subwoofer to ear some sort of air sound. In fact I like that and I think that's only the best sub that do that. I do not mean port noise.

Also a new subwoofer is like a new speaker and could sound muddy at first when brand new.

How do you know that the HSU go lower ? Did you test it with a test tone cd ? I dont care if the sub I buy is not the lowest pounding sub, I prefer a very musical sub.

I know because that is what my SPL meter told me! And yes to question #2 I used the test CD provided with the sub, just one more thing that HSU does above and beyond its competitors! NOW I HAVE TO GET BACK TO FIXING THE WINDOW THAT I BLEW OUT TONIGHT!!

Humm if you've got problems with your windows... too much bass for me because I have a new house.

In fact, I'm not a bass addict, I always use the subwoofer gently and well calibrated so you cannot easily tell it's working. Not like many users that boost the sub to ear it more than the music.

I'm always wondering if people with many subwoofers and more powerful one are reference when it comes to qualifying a subwoofer sound or speaker output. Its like they need more and more to get the same ear pressure level time after time because they slowly become deaf.

Like people putting more than a 10-12 inch woofer in a car... how do you need that much bass anyway ?

Quality over quantity for me :)
