this may seem odd. but what the hell anyway.
i just got one RT1000i and added it to my other front, which is a 800i. sounds good. (I needed some extra bass, and don't have the cash to add another sub). Now that leaves me with one 800i unused. I do have a 400i as the center.
do any of you use a tower or bookshelf as your center instead of a speaker designed to be your center?
If so, what are the results. I briefly unplugged my 400i, and plugged in the 800i in it's place. the sound was good.. only it was not as open as the 400i, but the bass was better from the center. what should i do with the extra 800i till i can find another 1000i?
any thoughts?
thanks

I'd store the 1000 untill you find a mate for it. Why would anyone mis-match their mains?

it works.. sounds good. the drivers are the same between the 1000i and the 800i. only difference, it the 1000i has a powered sub. which now blends better between my fronts and the PSW350 in the back of the room. I did at one point turn off the sub in the 1000i, and it really killed the sub sound coming from it. it had less bass respose than the 800i without a sub.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Maybe are rear surround (6.1).

I use a pair of SDA CRS+'s for my center.:DProud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country!

Mine will be the RTA 15TL(still waiting from Ca.) used to be
the CS400i.
If you really want the dialogs to be emphasize, loud and clear...
get the Bijou:D -
I would use the RT1000i to the center rear channel (6.1)and use the CS350 as the center(front), seem to be the logical choice. You must be single, my wife never let me do that (put the lonely long speaker on top of the TV or beside it)

unfornately, i don't have a 6.1 receiver. just 5.1 this weekend... i'll play around with different settting and locations where to mix and match.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
